Dr. Ronald Stephans Jr, MD

I was a regular patient of Dr. Stephans for years and would still be so if I had not moved to Wesley Chapel and had insurance changes. He was always wonderful with me, patient and kind. Listen to all my complaints and called when I missed appointments personally to check on me. He is a great doctor.

The office staff is absolutely horrid. I called the office to be seen, real quote from my doctor’s office “We’re trying not to see sick people right now.” The receptionist basically diagnosed me with Covid without even allowing me to see or schedule an appointment with the doctor. They were so confrontational, it was absolutely awful. I am vaccinated and already had taken a rapid test but she did not want to hear that.

I called today, July 13th, to make an appointment for a physical and was told Dr. Stephans next availability is October - 3 months out. I've been a patient of his for a few years but he's not worth waiting 3 months to see. I'll be finding a new primary.

My Father in Law is 83 years old with Stage IV COPD. He was Stage IV from first visit. He has gotten worse over the years he has seen this Doctor. He was hospitalized this week and this Primary, his Primary never came to see him. The hospital discharged him because he is in his last days. We called Hospice and found out he could have had this wonderful in home care 6 months ago. This Doctor had him coming to office visits when he could barely walk or breathe.

Staff are very rude, lazy and uncooperative. Doctor is vey blind with his staff and instead of looking for the best interest to the patient and hearing the complain of the patient he sides with his staff and as a doctor he fell to provide what I requested and needed which was a specialist referral.

I have had 4 different primary physicians in the last 5 years due to insurance changes and my dissatisfaction. I have finally found one I hope I'm able to stick with. Dr. Stephans took time with me inquiring about my mental and physical health. I feel like he really listened and at the end of our visit he offered to pray with me. I am so glad to have a professional who also shares my beliefs and treats the whole patient. I highly recommend Dr. Stephans.

Office staff is not patient friendly. The doctor has a poor bedside manner and always seems to be in a rush to move on to the next patient. When speaking to you he rarely looks you in the eyes. Recently called to make an appointment for my annual exam and was told the first available appointment was THREE months away!! Even with this they are still accepting new patients!! Suggestion would be to take care of the long time patients you have, work on the interpersonal skills dr and staff.
