Shocking and Insulting
Have been patient for 8+ years. Took 2 1/2 months to get appointment to have suspicious moles and growths looked at. Office had about 5 people waiting when I arrived. I waited and waited , in pain from recent back injury. Did not want to cancel since appointment took so long to get. Finally asked for another appointment but was assured won’t be much longer. At that point I had waited 1 hour, 15 minutes. Again asked for another appointment. Was told I could wait in a room where they had me undress, put on gown, sit on leather chair with bare skin and no paper. Waited and waited. No doctor, no nurse. Got up, got dressed, walked out to receptionist and told her I was leaving. She asked were you seen, and what is your name. Told her I sat here 1 1/2 hours and if you don’t know my name by now, you don’t need it. Received no apology, no follow up phone call. My advice, you are a nobody to this group, so find another dermatologist.

In the Spring of 2020, I exhibited a moving purple stain around my left eye. I called my Dermatologist, Dr. Ross Kaplan, who opened his closed office for me just after the Covid 19 pandemic hit. Dr. Kaplan performed a biopsy which came back undeterminate. He then performed a much larger biopsy, conferred with physicians on both coasts and presented me with a diagnosis of cancer, specifically Angiosarcoma. He contacted local radiology and chemotherapy oncologists to arrange treatment at a time when doctors were not receiving new patients. Because of his intervention, they agreed to treat my cancer. The treatment is ongoing. I believe Dr. Kaplan treats his patients as family. I feel strongly, that without his vigilance and persistence, this diagnosis would have never been made. I also credit his persistence with obtaining the needed medical attention I needed. Thank you Dr. Kaplan.

Yesterday I called his office and asked if I could get my full-body exam with only the doctor, without a nurse or a nurses aid or whatever. Just him. I was told OK. Then I came in today and I repeated my request to the woman who brought me back there. She said she would check with the doctor. She came back in and told me that, yes, the doctor agreed that only he will enter the room. But then the doctor AND SHE came in the room. I told the doctor that is not what we agreed. I asked him a series of questions that led to him admitting that he told the woman that he agreed to see me alone. I told him something like, "Can you see how I would feel betrayed? Can you see how I feel like my privacy and sense of dignity has been betrayed?" He said, "I am sorry that there was a misunderstanding." I told him, "There was no 'misunderstanding', you just lied to me." So if you like people to tell you the truth and to respect your dignity, I suggest you go elsewhere.

First time meeting Dr Kaplan, was so friendly and a good listener. I laughed and still do when he told me to get a new hobby besides picking at my lesions. So funny when he said he would rather drive an old truck and get a new surfboard. I was so comfortable with him and his staff.

Had to schedule an emergency visit to see if an incision was infected. Called Dr. Kaplan's office on July 5th - first he was working, second the staff immediately fit me. Dr. Kaplan saw the wound - made several good decisions to help resolve the issue. Great service & excellent medical advice. No wonder he was voted best Dermatologist 4 years in a row. Highly recommend!!!!

Dr was late 20 mintues! Was extremely rude. Didn't even let me talk. Told me, he couldn't give me the treatment I needed even when he knows I have a skin condition! Made me feel so uncomfortable, I am never going back to him!!!

Dr. Kaplan and his staff were very warm and caring. I was nervous about having to have surgery but his staff made the process easy and his skills are top notch. The aquarium in the waiting room adds to the beauty and tranquility of the office.
