After 6 years of exceptional care, I will no longer be a patient. As per them, it is no longer profitable to assist with CPAP supplies (or answer the phone without long hold times). The change in the CPAP ordering system requires updated insurance verification, selecting a CPAP provider approved by my insurance and a delay of almost two months of getting necessary supplies. I had to tell them what the insurance required; they were not even aware. This change was poorly communicated. Hold times are ridicules and return calls non-existent when I provided a phone number after 12 minutes on hold - twice. Patient care is suffering. I never post reviews but see that there is no current review for this doctor's office. When I requested that someone 'in charge' return my call and left a number, I did not get a call back - they don't want to listen to complaints either. I hope they get it together for the sake of the employees - who sound just as frustrated - bad management.

Dissapointed
I was referred by my PC MD to Dr. Patel and called to schedule an appointment for a sleep study. I was given a date and time that worked with my schedule. Several days later, I received a text that my appointment was 5 weeks later. When I called to ask why, no valid reason was given for the change, nor was there any effort to make any other arrangements, ie reschedule if someone cancels, etc. Also found it very difficult to talk to a person.

Sleepy in AZ
I had a telemedicine consultation - and we talked through my persistent fatigue, my lifestyle habits and medical history. We also talked about my insurance plan and its requirements for home vs in lab study. I felt that we had a good plan of attack in finding the underlying cause of my fatigue

I have been struggling with sleep for a few years and my mother has sleep apnea and RLS. I thought I should consider the possibility that I may have a sleep disorder after speaking with her. After completing my consultation and sleep study it was determined that I did not have sleep apnea but I do have RLS. I was thankful that modifying my diet and taking iron supplements have improved my symptoms enough to not require medication. We did discuss alcohol and other triggers and I now notice when I have good nights vs bad nights based on my intake (food/alcohol)....and thankful that I know have an understanding of my condition and how to best manage it.

After waiting weeks for a sleep study I was “rewarded” with incredibly poor follow up and a condescending follow up filled with conflicting information. After that I was hounded with calls pushing his cpap business and more studies when I don’t even have sleep apnea. If you want to be treated as a dollar sign and not a human being, this is your guy. If you want good treatment and follow through, try somewhere else.

Wait times in office are usually more than an hour. Dr. Patel does not listen well and is very arrogant. He gives me different advice at every appointment. I do not recommend him

There is a reason he was nominated by his peers for 5 consecutive years as "Top Doctor" in sleep medicine. He was focused on identifying the root cause of my sleep issues and not simply band-aideing the problem with sleep aides. Frankly he refused to prescribe them and helped me taper off the medication. It turns out I have RLS and have been using tart cherry juice, compression stockings, and managing my iron intake. I am now off all meds and sleeping the best I have in years. Thank you Dr. Patel and team.

Dr. Patel Did a sleep study on my child. He diagnosed her with sleep apnea. At the time she was attending the Honors College at her University and was an Applied Biological Science major. He spoke to her in the most condescending way. He always gave her conflicting directions at each appointment. His bedside manor was terrible and he peddled his CPAP supplies every 3 weeks by literally stalking her by phone to buy more each month. Later, after she graduated from grad school she left his practice and found a wonderful, intelligent, kind and listening Doctor who noticed that on her sleep study report from Patel, her weight was noted as over one hundred pounds heavier than my child. It was also noted that her neck circumference was that of an over weight man. The Doctor performed their own sleep study and found that our child did not have sleep apnea and was misdiagnosed by Dr. Patel. For the 18 months that she saw him she felt like she was only a dollar sign to him.

Harsh, does not listen, rude, long waits, poor bedside manners. Poor communication between front and back office. Diagnoses sleep disorders and then heavily pushes his supplies. Uncaring, no follow through, conflicting advice at each visit. If I had to chose one word to describe my time with dr. Patel it would be "Torturous" I could never recommend him based on my experience with him and the sleep institute.

Huge Mistake! – Aug 22, 2019

After being Patels patient and reading the reviews, I'm pretty sure his staff is writing the reviews that have more than one star. He is arrogant, rude, selfserving, does not listen, and doesn't practice honourable medicine, My sleep study results have my height, weight, and neck circumference incorrect. If you want to be diagnosed with a sleep disorder and pay Patel lots of money for the supplues he sells, see him. If you want an honest diagnoses, go anywhere else. He's running a monopoly.

If you are looking for a quick fix or a magic pill this doctor is not the one for you. What attracted me to this clinic was the willingness of the provider to seek out the root cause of my sleep issue. If you are looking to participate in your care for long term results then this is the place for you. I am consistently sleeping soundly for the first time in years!

I am not a "usual" candidate for apnea. I'm thin, female, don't snore--but in my early 70s. Dr Patel diagnosed me as having "severe sleep apnea"!. I was shocked. I tried several masks and the standard mouth device for those--like me--who couldn't tolerate the masks he offered .I paid for a custom mouth piece. Mine was 2600.00-not covered by insurance. My sleep was not improved. A subsequent sleep study at the Mayo -a year later-showed I had NO sleep apnea! Something is "not right" at Patel's..

Dr. Patel is an excellent physician with an excellent bedside manner that is far from being smug and arrogant as per the prior review. I was referred to him for possible sleep apnea, which was addressed very well but he also requested that we work to actually DISCONTINUE Ambien that I had been taking for many years even though that was not a concern of mine but rather it was to him. I am sleeping very well now without Ambien! Highly recommend him as he is one of the best docs I've ever seen!

I've struggled with insomnia for about 30 years. When I saw Dr. Patel he was quick to have me complete a sleep study although the information received from the study didn't tell me anything about my insomnia. He then wanted to try several medications for sleep, all of which I have tried before without success. I figured that he would know how to help me with insomnia as his practice is the 'Insomnia and Sleep Institute'. But the only thing he offered was more medication.

This was one of the best experiences we've had with a doctor (for my 7 yo daughter). Aside from a good experience with scheduling the appointments, Dr. Patel and his staff are wonderful. Hardly any wait once we got there and Dr. Patel is warm and sincere, is knowledgeable, and has a great bedside manner. He truly listens and wants to help. His techs for the sleep study are pleasant and accommodating. I would highly recommend Dr. Patel and his practice for anyone needing sleep help.
