The first thing he did when taking over my care was discontinue my pain medication, after having been on it for 3 years. I asked him to at least taper me off. He refused and simply cut me off, forcing me to get sick with withdrawal. He never examines me during appointments. He may listen to my breathing with his stethoscope, but that's it. My past oncologist actually examined me every time. Checking my lymphnodes, and abdomen. I have to actually ask for scans to be done. He asked me if I wanted to start chemo again, after having been off of it for awhile to give myself a break. I said, "No one wants to be on chemo." "Should I start it again?". He would not make a recommendation, either way. He would simply say, "If you want to do chemo,we can." I wanted a professional recommendation. Some data to make my decision on. I wanted to know what he thought I should do. He would not make a suggestion either way. Like he's afraid of liability or something. He also refused to provide other medications that my previous oncologists at the same center were providing. I have a hard time dealing with needles and MRIs. They would help with something to relax me so I wouldn't faint or have an anxiety attack. Dr. Zhou just doesn't care. My previous oncologists understood that they were treating patients, not just the disease.
