Weight bias
I went to see Dr Kothari because I had been experiencing GI pain. I disclosed that I was recovering from almost a 30 year eating disorder. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The tech that brought me back made me feel uncomfortable and inconvenient when I asked for a blind weight check (turning your head away from the scale, and asking not to hear the numbers). When speaking with Dr K in the exam room, I had emphasized my current eating disorder recovery. Without asking me questions specifically about my diet, she said my BMI was too high and gave me printouts of what to eat to pursue weight loss. I was very upset and surprised given her reputation. The GI pain got worse and it landed me in the ER. They discovered I had several gallstones and was scheduled for surgery right away. My pain has been gone ever since. I know people in average-sized bodies that have seen her, and did not have an experience like mine. I’ll never be back again.

Wonderful experience!
I had some gastro and "inner" concerns and wanted a physician affiliated with MLH. I was fortunate to get Dr. Kothari in Wayne! She was not only very nice, but also asked about my weight, showing concern that although I walked and didn't eat a lot of junk, I was retaining weight. She scheduled me for routine care and lab work, as well as the suggestion to eat more fiberous fruit. She would be an excellent PCP!

Dr. Kothari called me several times to discuss my health. I seldom receive that level of service anymore! She also does virtual visits which is essential if you have limited mobility. She is easy to talk to and listens.

This is a Dr. who actually listens to her patients. The only issue is with the office and how busy they are, sometimes I have to wait months to see her. But she's worth it, I don't want to see anyone else in that office (have and don't much care for them).
