Dr Smug
Dr Smug is more like it. Rude and dismissive, poor listener with poor empathy skills. NOT concerned with your health, just making sure he corrects you at every juncture.

Yes, he spent a lot of time discussing my problem and made sure that a test appointment was made before I left the office. He seems willing to go beyond normal procedures to get to the root of the problem. Was very personable.

Dr.Hug knows his stuff but is rude, shallow and egotistical, not personable AT ALL! He should learn a thing or two about humility and treating all patients with care and respect. Never seeing this guy again. Would not recommend him to anyone!!

I have been going to Dr. Hug for more than 15 years. In all that time,he has been completely professional. He explains results of tests and suggests corrective actions that I should take to improve my health, as well as prescriptions which will help. He schedules follow up appointments as necessary. The entire office staff is excellent and professional as well. He has been cited as among the Top Doctors in America.

I'm shocked and dismayed to see several one star ratings for Dr. Hug. My and my husband's experience with Dr. Hug has been wonderful. I find him to be caring, an excellent listener, never rushes me -- all opposite of the negative reviews. He keeps all my shots current, orders appropriate tests, and gives me referrals as needed.

I will never forgive him for what he said to my late mother, in their final meeting. She said, "I am depressed." His response, "When aren't you depressed?" She had suffered the agonies of the damned at William Beaumont, following a hospital error that blocked blood flow to the hand. That he saw fit to say that to this fine lady, who led a remarkable life, places Dr. Hug in a certain category, or level, as a person. I wasn't present for this exchange, she told me later, with pain in eyes.

It would be difficult to overstate how curt, dismissive, and egotistical his communication style is. He is an impatient listener and offers quick, disdainful rebuttals to questions or inquiries about other options. He is insulting rather than thoughtful and as far from caring or empathetic as any health care provider I have encountered. Based on his appearance and overall crotchety manner, I assumed he was in his late 60s or older and likely at the end of his career and maybe way past his prime.

I would not recommend Dr. Hug to a friend because he is rude and repeatedly called me old. Then, he overcharged me for a procedure.

Not very personable especially since the change in office staff. He has lost his zeal for medicince and ability to care about patients.

He tried to tell me I didn't have a surgery I definitely had, told me he thinks I don't have another condition which was confirmed by three health professionals, and then said he wanted to test my thyroid but when I looked at the paperwork he also ordered lab work to check for Hepatitis C. That's something you get from either a transfusion or a dirty needle. I'm canceling my appointment and driving two hours to my old doctor. Thanks for assuming I'm a liar and idiot.
