Beware if you use Dr. Basham
My retinal doctor refered me to Dr. Ryan Basham. He met with me twice, doing many tests prior to cataract surgery on March 8. He said because my astigmatism wasn't bad he suggested the multi-focal lens at an extra out-of-pocket cost of $3,000 per eye. - no more glasses or contacts! Following the 1st surgery my eye was seeing distance but very blurry, and after 2 weeks Dr. Basham checked my retina and said if he'd known there were issues, he wouldn't have recommended the multi-focal lens. He recommended removing the permanent lens and replacing it, and April 3 he did another surgery and placed a toric lens used for astigmatism. I was billed for this corrective surgery and his services. My vision is still very blurry, and it seems I now have an astigmatism of -1.25 - last year it was -.75. I must now wear medically necessary contact lenses and glasses won't be an option for clear vision. I've personally paid over $6,000 plus insurance for a damaged eye. He has expressed no concern!

Great Doctor, Questionable Organization
I made my annual eye examination appointment 1 year in advance. A month before my appointment date, I was called by someone who stated the need to change my appointment. No reason was given, but, okay, everyone is entitled to have unknown things crop up. The next appointment was nearly 3 months later! About a month before the second appointment date, I received another phone call from the office notifying me of the need for moving my appointment date again... NOT good. The first time this happened, the person who called was somewhat rude and made be feel as though I was unimportant after being Dr. Basham's patient for at least the past 10 years or more. The second contact was more civil, but the problem of changing my appointment was out of the question. I have confidence in Dr. Basham's medical abilities and would have enjoyed continuing to be his patient, but I feel there's a problem in the organization to which he belongs these days. So, make appointments at your own risk.

My exam was rushed & not very thorough. In fact the technician in a previous visit made a mistake in the prescription- so the glasses had to be redone. Then the dr wouldn’t answer some basic questions & had a brusque manner. Very different experience from the way his father conducted an exam.

Given the importance of one's sight, Dr. Basham's office is a five star operation. The entire staff is friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, informative, considerate and professional. They make you feel that your needs are paramount and will be handled to your full satisfaction. The office is easy to get to and has very adequate parking. The wait times were minimal. I wouldn't hesitate a moment to highly recommend Dr. Basham to handle one's vision issues. (Please see my Yelp review also.)

I was referred to this doctor by my doctor , I drove 20 miles to arrive by 8:00 am for the appointment. the office is in the middle of no where in a residential area. The staff is very rude , as soon as they saw my insurance they said we don't know this insurance and tried to bribe me with a cash deal to see the doctor . and when I asked them to verify my insurance , she lied and said they are closed now and I cant do anything about it ( they were not closed , I called them immediately after ).
