Dr. Ryan Phillips, MD

My adult son was seen in the ER, with slurred speech and an urgent health issue brewing. Dr. Phillips was making jokes that my son had too much to drink. Not knowing my son had him on speaker phone, we could hear my son struggling to speak, insisting that he had not been drinking at all. The doc chuckled, gave him an antihistamine shot, and sent him home. My son’s condition rapidly digressed, and was admitted to a different nearby hospital with an ascending paralysis and intubated. My son was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre, hence, the slurred speech. Dr. Phillips not only failed to take my son’s condition seriously, he failed to consider any condition apart from his unfounded claim of drinking or an allergic reaction. The treating hospital’s infectious disease staff were astonished at the lack of care by Dr Phillips, taking upon themself to contact Huron Valley. I followed up with a team member from the ER (name withheld), to file a complaint but never heard back.
