Upper and lower problems
After years of having polyps removed and acid in my throat I went to Dr Shelby he did an upper and lower on me he found the problems in my stomach he found more polyps but he was very skillful made me feel very comfortable as comfortable she can get with these procedures and he has me in his office in the beginning every 6 months a year now each time but what he found and how he treated has made me feel 100% different I trust him impeccaboid he found the beginning of cancer in my stomach he found cancerous polyps but since he started taking care of me I don't have polyps every year to be removed I read some of the other reviews I think they were at a different doctor I'm very critical and this man is the best that has ever treated me over the years and that would be many thank you Dr you're wonderful

Missed Stage 4 Cancer
This guy missed Stage 4 Colon Cancer in my mother for YEARS. She was getting regular colonoscopy scans by Dr. Shelby and was given a 'clean bill of health' for years. She moved out of State, and got a new doctor. She had a checkup a mere 18 months after Doctor Shelby gave her the all clear, and she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer that spread to her liver which required surgery. She's lucky she's alive at this point. Now she's in the fight of her life, undergoing cancer treatments for the rest of her life because this guys is horrible at his job. This guy should not be practicing medicine and if you're getting an 'all clear' from this doctor, I recommend getting a second opinion.

He wanted to do a pancreatic biopsy even though the tests came back that I was 95 % okay and he told me that percentage.

I met Dr Shelby at the hospital in San Ramon. I had upper gastrointestinal pain and he was making rounds that day. He advised that I would need a colonoscopy to determine the pain origin. A few days later he proceeded with the invasive procedure but did not find anything that would cause the pain in my upper gastrointestinal area. He said based on where the pain was, he would need to perform an upper endoscopy; from the top, not the bottom ?? I was extremely confused as to why he would suggest a procedure that he knew would not provide answers to the problem that I was having. He knew that a colonoscopy would not give him answers about my condition but he did it anyway. He basically used my body to make money. I could not believe he would perform a colonoscopy knowing it was not what was needed. Also, after that procedure he did not check with me about the original pain I was having, and made no attempts towards resolving the problem or diffusing the pain. I believe he performs c

I believe what differentiates between two doctors is overall experience (scheduling, prep, follow-ups, communication, billing, etc.). Dr. Shelby need to overhaul his team as his staff is not equipped to handle cases. Dr. Shelby’s office misguided me on sending me to pharmacy 3 times when their office failed to send the prescription. On 4th call, they admit that they have glitch in their computer and prescriptions are not going through (Now, how difficult it is to call a pharmacy and put a phone order in). The procedure scheduler asked me just to take ‘Magnesium Citrate’ from OTC, which didn’t match the written instructions received from the office. I didn’t want to risk not following the written instructions and ended up missing my appointment (no after hours VM service), unnecessary day away from work and loss time due to unnecessary trips to pharmacy. I recommend to avoid Dr. Shelby because you are not going to get any help from the office.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shelby for over 5 years. He has always been kind, personable and professional. He has the ability to calm you whether you are nervous about the procedure or the outcome. What I like personally is that he takes a few minutes to check in with you as you come out of the anesthesia. His staff are very efficient. They have been with him a long time. It is always nice to see a familiar face when you check in to his office or surgery center. Highly recommended!

I was in the hospital recently at San Ramon Regional, due to pneumonia. After they conducted blood tests, I was found to have low red blood cell count dude to internal bleeding. So, in comes Dr. Shelby! He reassured me that he would discover what he thought were bleeding ulcers. Next day he did an endoscopy and colostomy on me, and found several esophageal ulcers. He even gave us a copy of the picture of the ulcers from the endoscopy. His attending nurses were first rate, too! I subsequently saw

SO nervous about having my first colonoscopy! My family doctor referred me to see Dr. Shelby, because of his reputation for being punctual, kind and attentive to his patients. I am very pleased to say, Dr. Shelby was wonderful! My experience starting with his friendly, efficient staff, the colonoscopy, and subsequent visit to discuss my results with Dr. Shelby, was exceptional! I will definitely recommend Dr.

New patient of Dr. Shelby. Totally ecstatic about the treatment I received. Very attentive to my condition. Performed an upper endoscopy with dilation. Entire staff was very efficient. No after effects from the anesthesia, and felt great afterwards. I am very satisfied with his care.
