Good communication- poor follow up
Dr Kanter provided very thorough explanation to my kidney disease. However, after seeing him for nearly 5 years I realized something he neglected to do. A biopsy for more kidney was never attempted. I only knew about this because my Kidneys had nearly reached a non- functioning number (if I recall it my GFR was at a 13).My Kidneys had finally reached non-functioning and I quickly was switched to a different doctor who handles Dialysis and treatments. This doctor had asked for my biopsy report, however was astonished that this was never performed in all the years (5-6 years) with Dr Samuel Kanter. Makes me think if there was anything else he neglected or forgotten.

Chose Dr. Kantor because he speaks Spanish. I would not recommend him to any of my Latino and Hispanic community however. During our visit with Dr. Kantor, he had not taken the time to review any of our existing bloodwork or medical history files we shared prior to the appointment. There were several questions we asked during the visit for which we did not receive answers to; these questions weren't even acknowledge. He stood up in the middle of his sentence and walked out, prompting the end of the visit. He made generalizations about our culture because of where we lived prior, which was Miami, Florida—stereotypes are an element of bigotry. Worst of all, he recommended waiting for the eGFR to be at 9 on an 87 year old patient before making any steps on PD, which is hugely risky. He had no sense of urgency and no care. I wouldn't trust this doctor with my loved one.

Dr. Kantor is one of the very few doctors who takes the time to explain things in layman's language. He is also very intelligent and I always feel that I am in good hands with him.
