Dr. Saraswathi Sathyanarayana, MD

I was referred to Dr. Sara for Endometriosis after the birth of my 3rd child. She determined a partial hysterectomy was needed. I begged her for a full hysterectomy, explaining that my husband & I had 6 children & did not want more, that I just wanted the pain to end. She refused. I was cut hipbone to hipbone for the partial hysterectomy. Exactly one year to the day & a tremendous amount of pain later, I was back with her to complete the hysterectomy.. She AGAIN cut me hipbone to hipbone. After another year of unmentionable problems, I saw another OBGYN who discovered Dr. Sara had cut the left ovary loose, but did NOT remove it from my body. It was embedded so far into my colon that only a fraction of it could be removed.. Corrective surgery was performed. At that time, my appendix was removed after being advised by the surgeon that Dr. Sara should certainly have removed it during the 1st surgery.

Most traumatic experience of my life was giving birth to my son with this woman. I was transferred from a birth center because my water broke at 35 weeks. Dr. Sara has ZERO bedside manner and made it pretty clear she wanted to c-section me. A nurse even came into my room after she walked out and warned me "Dr. Sarah LOVES to do c-sections, so you're going to have to fight hard if you don't want one!" She kept stretching me roughly as I pushed - I screamed at her to stop but she didn't listen. After my son came, she was stitching me up and suddenly I heard her mutter "The placenta needs to come out". She then proceeded to thrust her hand up me and scrape out my placenta while I screamed and cried and begged her to stop. Ripped my stitches. This doctor is a nightmare. Stay away.

I made a mistake going to Dr. Sarah in October 2018. -I went to the wrong doctor’s office and she charged me full price and won’t refund my money -watched me take my shirt off in the exam room and commented on the size of my breasts repeatedly -doesn’t have receptionist or a voicemail to contact for billing or anything else -asked me to pay full price without going through my insurance first -repeatedly laughed at me when I confronted her about many issues -and MUCH MUCH more...

she is toooo much money minded lady. Be careful when you are dealing with her with insurance. She will deduct the money from you and insurance. I am very disappointed with the service she provided to my family. The only thing she cares about is how to collect money from you. She even chooses the day of surgery (does not care if it is emergency), just to not close her office, so she can make money. Staff is super rude.

Dr. Saraswathi was incredibly insensitive to my situation as I visited her office based on a referral from the Overland Park Regional ER. I actually had the worst possible experience with her and the staff. She was fairly rough with her exam and the staff I encountered throughout my visit were all incredibly rude and short with me. Now I am aware that none of these people know of the reason for my visit but that is no excuse for their behavior. I am writing this review to make others aware.

Always late never answers the phone or call back when I contact after hours number doesn't check on you after er visits

I'm almost a senior citizen and Dr. Sara delivered my two boys, so I have been going to her for medical care for a long time. She always provided me prompt appointments and I would say that her expertise is in the "very good to excellent" category. She often takes care of the problems my primary care physician misses. I would recommend Dr. Sara to my best friend.

She has been my obgyn for over 20 years. I trust her.
