Women: don't bother
The only thing I gained from my visit was that my pain isn't a concern and women my age often get STIs, so my mouth ulcers are probably those. After they took my blood, I was instructed to wait for him to go over the results for me. When I cried because the pain was too much and I had been there for three hours, they closed the curtain and screen door without a word to me. Later, I overheard the staff discussing whether or not I was still there. It was an absolutely unproductive appointment. I still don't even know what I have. After I returned a few days later to ask about my results, he refused to agree to see me. He refused to go over the results with me or even talk with me. I have to schedule with another provider to be able to learn if I have a disease.

I signed up with Akers because my Dr retired From my first visit he acted like he didn’t want to be there. Made me wait a full week before prescribing an antibiotic for a bronchial infection because he thought it would get better without one. Same visit he told the nurse to order albuterol, already had it listed on charts so he hadn’t even looked at my records to see what my meds were. Where did they find him anyway. Seems like all the good Drs are leaving ascension although he was the worst Dr I’ve ever had and I’m 73

He is no longer with Via Christi. I can’t imagine why based on some of the reviews on here. I only had him as my primary care provider because my old doctor retired. I never like Dr. Akers from the first time that I met him. He seemed to almost be counting the seconds and acted like he had better things to do. Oh you’re 2 minutes is up...next patient. I’m glad that he is no longer my doctor.

Didn't listen to the reason for my visit. Was more concerned in chatting with the nurse than determining my issue. Prescribed the incorrect medicine then blamed me for not describing my issue clearly enough for him to diagnose. Argued with my like a child. Absolute worst Dr I've ever had. Ascension Medical Group really scraped the bottom of the graduating class with this one. I wouldn't take my neighbor's dog to this one.

It was horrible, he walked out of my dr visit taking a call and I never heard back from him and his nurse gave me the wrong prescription that was harmful to me and he knew it was and after I took it his nurse calls me telling me not to take it. It was hard even reaching his staff as well
