Dr. Scott Barkin, DO

Dr Barkin was professional, thorough and congenial. My only complaint was the unusually long time lag between when the assistant left the exam room and Dr Barkin arrived. At least when he arrived he had only good news to report.

He is very good, very kind, and although he runs behind sometimes, I'm okay with that, because it means he's taking the time to answer someone's questions, just as he has done for me.

I always enjoy my appointments with Dr Barkin. He explains everything so that I understand what's going on. Even when the information is not positive, he keeps my expectations and concerns in check. The staff are the best too.

This was the first appt and I like what he says and has a good plan. So far so good!

I have been seeing Dr. Barkin for over a year. He listens to your concerns and he answers your questions so that you can understand.

The entire staff is extremely friendly from the receptionist to the nurses.

Quick visit. Nurse assistant returned call immediately. Quick in and out. Very efficient.

Doctor Barkin was extremely helpful and honest during his consultation. He made me feel like he actually cares about what he does FOR people and how it will affect my future. I am 23 and he advised me to wait until I am a bit older to consider such a big change as vasectomies are reversible but it becomes more difficult with time. He told me to think about my life in 5 year increments, that the things I want now may be different than the things I want when I am 28 or 33. I appreciated that. He was looking out for me to avoid watching me make a hasty decision I may later regret. However he seemed like he made the decision that he wasn’t going to give me the option, before even speaking to me. I understand that being 23 I have my whole life ahead of me and my mind could change on the prospect of children, but if I hadn’t extensively explored other options and discussed the topic. I wouldn’t have been in the office in the first place. I would recommend Doctor Barkin to anyone over 35!

He has always been reasonable about making diagnoses and has always involved me in decision making.

Always very helpful and takes the time to make sure I’m well informed and all questions are addressed.

First the receptionist, Jill, is rude and hung up on me, twice. The second time I was responding to a voice mail she left. In her VM she rattled on so fast I could not even get the phone number unless I listened to it 3 times.Second, the doctor is NOT a 'full-service' doctor. Depending on your symptoms he may or may not see you or provide service.I would recommend you select another Urologist if you need one.

I’ve never been mistreated by a doctor before until yesterday. He was extremely rude, talked down on me, and had a horrible attitude. I even confronted him about it after I had the chance to finally talk. He immediately changed his tone he denied behaving any type of way when he walked in the door. He failed to ask me important questions. I would not recommend him to anyone. After reading other reviews about him, I’ve realized this is very common for him. I told him that as patients who pay for a service, we come to him for help, not to be yelled at or talked down to. Do not see him.

Was able to diagnose my kidney stone issue quickly and recommended path forward that minimized recovery time. As other's have stated, he is direct and to the point. Great for a Urologist.

Awful bedside manner. Will talk over you and simply spew tons of analogies. Strong personality and talks down to you. Is it policy to wear a badge while visiting with patients? Two visits and no badge, no scrubs, nothing. An outsider who has never seen him could not be blamed for thinking he might be a patient.

Dr Barkin took very good care of my husband. He’s compassionate and informative. We thank him.

No "Ben Casey" beside manner but he is direct in communication and has always recommended the least invasive course. Allows patient autonomy clearly explains alternatives plus/minus possibilities. 6 procedures/surgeries since 2006 diagnosing/treating my prostate cancer successfully. cuts "to the chase" always has time for questions and give adequate time for patients. Visit usually lengthy (45-90 minutes) but thorough. W"ville office is excellent esp. scheduler Jill. Admin staff inconsistent
