Dr. Scott Makemson, MD

Makemson was condescending, rushed, and unprofessional. He suggested not completing work since I had not yet reached 12 weeks' pregnancy and because of my age (38) my likelihood of miscarriage was higher therefore bloodwork may not be necessary. I insisted since I had thyroid issues with my first son and he succumbed to my request. My thyroid levels were elevated and I required medication to treat them to ensure a safe pregnancy. I had to work very hard to find another practice within Atrium after my terrible experience with Makemson.

Dr. Makemson delivered my twins almost sixteen years ago. He has been an excellent physician. He is extremely compassionate and has been attentive to my "many" concerns I have had over the years. He is aggressive in pursuing potential health concerns and has never been dismissive. I highly recommend him.

Felt rushed at the appointment, and kind of uncomfortable. Felt like I couldn't ask all the questions I wanted to.

This “doctor” is clueless. After learning I was miscarrying, he gave me no information about what to expect and was incredibly cold/patronizing. I would not trust him to treat me for a cold, much less with the care of a baby. I would highly recommend avoiding him if at all possible.

My teenage daughter was seen by dr. Makemson for possible ovarian cysts. His bedside manner was amazing. He really made my daughter feel comfortable under the circumstances. He was very attentive and accomadating. He went out of his way to arrange an ultra sound during the appt. So we didn't have to return for another visit. I definitely reccomend.
