Wrong diagnosis? Procedure? Indifferent to outcome
I live out of state & Rushton was recommended to evaluate my back condition. He was quick to recommended decompression surgery & performed a lumber laminectomy L3-L5. The surgery was not successful in relieving any of my neurological issues in my legs whatsoever. During follow-up visit a few months later I asked 'why didn't the surgery relieve my symptoms'? He didn't say anything for the longest time then stated he doesn't feel further surgery would be beneficial. I asked 'why did you recommend in the first place then'? No response. So I asked again 'what went wrong here, what options do you recommend?' Again prolong silence. My head is spinning at this point, he is literally pleading the 5th by not responding. I broke the silence by thinking out loud 'should I see a neurologist' & he immediately responded yes? What the ? I want to say so much more but limited by characters remaining. If you considering Rushton, reconsider, not there for you afterward if surgery fails.

Dr. Rushton is an amazing and super knowledgeable Doctor. He has performed 3 surgeries on me that have in my eyes saved my life. I could never thank him enough for everything he has done for me. All 3 of my surgeries were a great success. I honestly do not know what I would have done without him.

I am very pleased with the results from my L3,4,5 lamenectomies and partial discectomy at L3-4. Great confidence going into this and terrific results after. Great patient interface with Dr Rushton and his group, nothing like working with a very experience team. I also think Lankenau is an excellent hospital, the flagship of Main Line Health

Dr. Rushton performed a spinal fusion and lamenectomy on my total lumbar spine three years ago and followed my healing process for two years afterwards. I couldn't have found a better, more knowledgeable spinal surgeon anywhere! His manner is professional, kind and caring, and he was very honest and encouraging at my initial visit with him. I trusted him with my success and was not disappointed. You won't find a better doctor! Thank you, Dr. Rushton!!!

Dr. Rushton has given me my life back!!! Having been in back pain for years and worsening symptoms, e.g., leg numbness, shooting pain and inability to lift my leg, and many failed treatments e.g. steroid injections, chiropractic, PT, acupuncture, dry needling, etc. I decided to have a laminectomy and fusion with Dr. Rushton. He is amazing and his staff, nurse Donna Garrison and PA Stefan - my results are outstanding!!!

Dr. Rushton analyzed my situation and offered a surgical solution. He carefully explained the options and the procedure. Everything went as planned and I am now pain free. I appreciate everything Dr. Rushton and his P.A./Donna have done for me. I thought Lankenau Hospital and the staff there did an excellent job as well.
