Dr. Shalaun Hawkins, MD

I had to wait almost an hour, and when she finally spoke to me, it was only for 10 minutes before she left the room and never came back. Instead of addressing my concerns, she sent a nurse in to explain the plan for my medication. The nurse went over how to wean off my old meds but did not mention anything about what new medication I would be taking. When I asked about it, the nurse seemed confused, said she couldn’t find anything listed, and asked if it was okay to check with the doctor and call me later. I ended up having to piece everything together from the visit summary. I walked out of that appointment with more questions than when I came in. It felt as though she couldn’t care less about me or my well-being.

Dr. Hawkins was professional, calm, attentive and thorough. She listened well as I shared details of a personal recollection of my health and family medical history. Additionally, Dr. Hawkins gave further suggestions about follow up steps to assist me in preventative health care measures and a referral for another practitioner to also assist with my medical needs. The receptionists and doctor's assistant were also very warm and succinct in office protocol to assist with the doctor's visit.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Hawkins for years now. I even followed her to her new practice & after moving myself I travel 30-40 minutes to see her. I’d say her best quality, that keeps me coming back is her compassion and bedside manner. D magazine’s only misprint when I started seeing her was not ranking her THE BEST in Dallas.

Dr. Hawkins truly cares and LISTENS to your concerns. She works WITH me to improve my health and I'm so grateful to finally have a teammate in healthcare. The staff is so cool and caring. They treat you like an old friend when you walk in the door. You will not regret trying her out.
