initially went to see Dr. Shannon Nelson as a new patient for my annual physical, back in December. I have great insurance with my job that covers annual physicals and other preventative care. The visit went well but I had to go to another facility to get lab work done. This was a first for me seeing as though I usually get everything done with my Primary Care Provider. I went to get the labs done the same day after my visit at the doctor's office. Upon arriving at the Labcorp office, I had to give a credit card to pay for the labs separate from the office visit. This was an order called in by Dr. Nelson so I figured it was captured on my insurance. That wasn't the case! The lab results arrived to me, via the Labcorp app, several days before l got any communication from. The doctors office. I was then told I could come in to have the results explained but that there would be a fee. Huh? I passed on that option since I had already gotten the results and looked up everything on my own. I was ultimately charged for the labs, the initial patient visit, the annual physical and now they are saying I owe them more money? How is that even possible when annual physicals are covered by insurance? I just feel like I'm being nickel and dime'd at this point and won't be making a return visit to this office. I tried to become a valued customer of this facility but it seems that they only value billing patients, not their health/wellness. Unfortunate!

I felt that in general he overprescribed. I trusted him as a medical professional to make the judgement that the benefits of the treatments prescribed would outweigh the side effects and that was not the case. His inability to listen to me as a patient was almost comical--the long term consequences of this were not as I'm still suffering from secondary side effects of unnecessary prescriptions. On one visit I had shingles, with pus-filled blisters on my face and eyelid. He said I could go back to work at the end of the week and put some makeup on my shingles. Once again he prescribed something very strong that visit which I didn't take as I was already doubting his judgement from my previous experience and recovered fine without the extra prescriptions. I deeply regret going and won't return.

Dr. Nelson is very rude and does not care about his patients. If he feels that he can assist you, he will not let you let you access your records to send to another doctor.

He has been my PCP for 3 years. At every visit he acts superior. When I suggest anything or ask qestions he does not want to listen. After each appointmet I say I am finding a new doctor. Then, he refused to call in a prior authorization for a medicine he prescribed and I was DONE! I went to my paid apointment and as I was leaving, he refused to let me sign a release form and get a copy of my chart to take to another doctor, refused to let me see a copy of HIPPA, threatened to have me arrested,

Had to cancel, an emergency the day before my appmt. Told Dr. Nelson my granddaughter became ill at school (college) and I had to go and get her. He wanted to charge me $50.00 for cancelling less than 48 hrs before appointment (cancelled 24 hrs before). Told him I was never told of rule in the time I had been coming to him and it is not posted any where in his office. Agreed to pay so I could get blood pressure refill but would not be back, he said he would not see me, left office w/out meds.

I have been going to Dr. Nelson for almost 3 years, the office is clean and the staff is friendly, and I've never had trouble getting an appointment or having to reschedule. They've always worked really well with me. Dr. Nelson has always answered my questions and been polite. I haven't been to the office in a long time now, but I do plan on going back.

I would refer anyone here. Dr. Nelson is intelligent, caring, and thorough. He has a great bedside manner and really enjoys discussing your health and treatment options with you. I work in healthcare and finding a primary physician like him was such a blessing.

I had a horrible experience with this office, they refuse you give me a copy of my blood work and you will never get them on the phone when you want to reschedule an appointment, the reason is that they take your credit card information and threaten to charge it if you miss an appointment. Please do not go to this doctor....

My reason for this rating is....... I understand that it isbimportant to be knowledgeable as a doctor but in order to be a really good doctor, you have to he able to LISTEN to the patient. Dr. Nelsen talks a lot and listens a little. I have had one visit with him and that was one visit too many. His staff is extremely nice but it stops there. DONT GO HERE!

First, Dr. Nelson's office is located in an Ear, Nose and Throat office and you will have to go offsite and have your blood work. Secondly, he prescribed medicines that can cause kidney failure when coupled with medications I have been on for years. When I reach out to him about via email, he told me that I would need to come in to have anymore questions answered. DO NOT GO TO HIM!
