Avoid At All Costs
I will keep this vague as I know it will be publicly shared. I met with Dr. Hird several times over several months in her private practice. She was assertive, aggressive and came to conclusions quickly. Her thinking was different than other doctors had come to over the years. I involved another doctor I had worked with for a second opinion. She shared the information with both of us after her "assessment". Her recommendations were different, bold and delivered with clarity. I took action on these recommendations. They have been proven very wrong – anecdotally, but by a series of doctors who are her peers who have seemed shocked at the conclusions she came to with very little time or exposure to me as a patient. This experience was very upsetting to me and has made my condition worse. I would avoid Dr. Hird in her private practice (where she charges top dollar and does not accept insurance I might add).

Unfortunately I had seen a pain specialist who tapered me off my pain med too quickly. He gave me a medication that caused me to become suicidal. Dr. Hird was in the doctor in the ward at the time. After speaking to my internist, both recognized and thought I was being tapered too quickly. She was nice initially but became not so nice after a few minutes and very short-tempered. She had no choice but to observe me overnight. She realized I was not the problem and that I was not suicidal, that the medicine I was given was the problem. She is a smart and talented woman and doctor.
