Dr. Shawn Howell, MD

Given the poor results from a CT cardiac calcium scoring my internist had ordered, I now look back over the past weeks and reflect how fortunate and grateful to have been recommended to Dr. Shawn Howell. From my first consultation with her, I came away knowing I had a top-notch cardiac doc. That has been even more clear after yesterday’s cardiac catheterization procedure which definitively confirmed a need to embed several stents while she did the procedure… amazingly all via my wrist! Dr. Howell not only did a thorough work-up (over several weeks) to diagnose and attempt to treat my symptoms, but at all stages did an outstanding job of communicating to both my wife and self about the essences in terms that made us both comfortable and AGREE that we were in the “good hands” of a true professional. The follow-up by her and the Office Manager of Capital Cardiovascular Specialist oblige me to HIGHLY recommend them!

Dr. Howell performed my cath/heart surgery last week at GW Hospital. Her bedside manner and sweet demeanor cannot be surpassed. You want someone who is not only knowledgeable but also cares like a family member. You get both characteristics from Dr. Howell. Within two visits Dr. Howell was able to diagnose my condition and performed surgery to relieve me of two blockages in the same artery. It takes knowledge to be able to do that as opposed to procrastinating with umpteen tests.
