Dr. Shilpa Gaitonde, MD

I was very anxious knowing my ANA test was high Dr G was very calming and reassuring . She asked lots ofQuestions and explained why further blood tests were needed.

I waited for this appointment for a year and a half since I got a positive ANA result. She moved my arms around asked a question about miscarriages. She then came to the conclusion that I am just double jointed. She told me if I don’t have swelling in my joints, I don’t have lupus. I have so many symptoms for Lupus, rash, low grade fever, fatigue, weakness, allergy to the sun. I should have at least gotten a repeat of ANA showing what pattern it is. But if you look at the other review that has two starts on here, that was experience as well to summarize. I would definitely not recommend.

She ALWAYS listens to me and has saved my life more then once when I couldn't get another Doctor to listen she referred me to someone else, she always takes time and goes through everything every one of my visits when anyone has asked about a rheumatologist I always say her. When other doctors wouldn't listen she does and works with me not against me

I knew things weren't going to go well when then called me twice before the appointment to try and cancel it due to 'not needing a rheumatologist.' That's not what you want a couple weeks before and appointment you've been waiting the better part of a year for. When I finally had my appointment she was very rushed, did not listen to what I had to say and frequently talked over me. After seeing me just once she decided there was nothing wrong with me and it was all in my head. Apparently she can tell that by moving a few body parts around and talking to me twice. Even though my disease is debilitating and I'm stuck unable to walk some days. I've never felt as unwanted or rushed by a doctor in my life. If you're waiting the 6 plus months it takes to get in, don't hold your breath that this will help. Hands down the worst experience I've had since I got sick over four years ago. It's obvious she does not care one bit about her patients.

I have been seeing Dr Gaitonde for several years. The past year I have had additional health struggles but she worked with me and my ophthalmologist to make sure I was getting the right treatment for my condition. I always recommend her when someone is looking for a good rheumatologist!

I have been a patient of hers since she came to Evansville, IN. She is always courteous and answers my questions.

She is very thorough and listens to what you are telling her. She takes as long as you need to explain things. I enjoyed my visit. Looking forward to seeing her again.

Always nice. Always spends time with me. Does a very thorough exam at *each* visit and requires a series of lab work *before* each of my quarterly appt's, so she's ready to treat me, change meds, explain and answer questions on any changes *while I'm there*... Instead of me getting a call from the nurse later regarding a change in meds because of lab results. All of the staff are really great too. The wait is never very long. Waiting area is very clean, open and pleasant.

Dr. Gaitonde seems like a great doctor. I was very nervous for my first visit because I hadn't been treated well by doctors in the past and have a lot of symptoms. She really seemed like she was listening and found a problem with my hips which the appt wasn't even for, and her advice has helped me already. She had bloodwork done for me that came back quickly and clear. Looking forward to more care with her.

She went over the lab results with me and I told her about my right knee swelling but I told her I was fine and was treating it myself, she said to let her know how it was doing if not better she would give me a cortisone shot and I said ok.

She was understanding and and compassionate. She ordered an ultrasound from an outside imaging office that didn’t accept my insurance , so it wasn’t done. I would think that somewhere in the Ascension St Vincent imaging department this could have been done .

Absolutely LOVE Dr. Gaitonde. She is thorough, listens and answers all questions. She is also very patient. I highly recommend her to everyone. I am extremely happy with my doctor, she has gotten me to feeling much better than when I first went to her.

Staff and other personnel very Thoughtful and courteous as well as Informative

Went in for 6 month checkup…Dr.Gaitonde doesn’t try to rush you out like other Drs. She explains any and everything to you. She listens to everything you have to say. She makes you feel comfortable on visits. I’ve been seeing her almost 10 years.

Dr. Gaitonde was so kind and thorough. She took notes and really listened to what was going on. She's repeating some lab work to make 100% sure of my diagnosis before putting me on life long treatment because my well being is the number 1 priority, not just prescribing easy fixes. I felt so good about my appointment with her.

She is a very concerned and caring Doctor! She checks on and keeps track of other health problems that may or may not be related to the reason you see her!

She is wonderful and caring. Very thorough. Her staff is very polite and caring. One usually feels good about their visit. Highly recommend
