Dr. Shilpa Sunkara, MD

Meeting Dr. Sankora for the first time, I explained the healing progress I had made over about 4 months since twisting my knee and hip when I almost fell but didn't. She poked my knee and said, 'Does that hurt?' When I said 'yes,' she poked it again, harder. I said to her, 'I said that hurts. Please stop!' She stopped. We discussed an x-ray or MRI which I did not want. She asked what I wanted to do. When I suggested physical therapy, because I wanted help with my balance and depth perception, she threw her hands up in the air and said, 'Fine! Let's do physical therapy!' This from a doctor in a practice that supposedly supports patients' choices even if those choices are to access alternative health care. I have now completed 8 weeks of PT, and am walking with ease and confidence. I know my body, but this doctor didn't appreciate my point-of-view. She simply wanted me to cooperate with her traditional approach and lack of creative thinking.

I have felt very comfortable with the care received by Dr. Sunkara the last two years. She is pleasant, attentive, thorough, and takes appropriate steps to insure my health.
