Excellent Neurologist
I became a patient of Dr. Mittal after a real bad experience with another doctor in the neurology clinic at VUMC. I suffered a stroke in 2017. She was my doctor from 2017 until she left Vanderbilt. I was so sad bc she knew my case and was helping me. She understood my goals and I felt like she actually cared about me and my health. In 2018 I moved to another state and still drove 300 miles to see her bc I didn't trust anyone else with my care. Now she is gone and when I got the news I was sad and in a panic. I suffered another stroke in 2022 and I've been stressed about care ever since. I've experienced drs that don't even take the time to research my history! And would rather treat me as a guinea pig. I never felt that with Dr. Mittal. If I could afford it and my insurance covered it, I would fly all the way to Philly just to continue my care with her. Every Dr I've seen since she left doesn't make me feel as confident in their care. And I'm now seeing Drs in TN and Al and stressed.

Dr. Mitral was very respectful. She listened and made sure that I understood her concerns. She asked questions to understand my health history, ordered necessary testing, and made sure I understood testing involved. She scheduled a follow up, but assured me that she’d see me sooner if test results were concerning. I felt cared for. I would absolutely recommend her care to a friend.

Dr Mittal is an “easy answers only” neurologist. She does not dig deeper for complicated patients. I have come to expect more from Vanderbilt and its healthcare practitioners than she is willing to offer.

I have been going to Vanderbilt doctors for nearly 20 years and I have found all of them to be remarkable except for the single exception of Dr. Mittal. I was in ICU at Vanderbilt Medical Center when she saw me and I found her bedside manner to be terrible. She was condescending, dismissive and impatient with me when I was not able to answer her questions fast enough. She practically shouted at me when I could not find the word she was looking for.
