If you’ve suffered from plantar fasciitis, this recommendation is for you. I’ve had three bouts totaling about 7 years. I think I’ve been to 6-7 podiatrists in Austin during that time. I’ve tried everything but surgery. Every gadget, every stretch, every orthotic, every treatment… This time, my internet research recently led me to try shockwave therapy (EPAT), and I found Dr. Shine John at Capital Foot & Ankle. I was skeptical but hopeful. I did 4 weekly 5-minute treatments. In my non-doctor terms, he applies intense shock waves to your foot, which breaks up the scar tissue and sends a message to your body to heal itself. (I will say that it does hurt, but it is nothing compared to the ongoing pain of plantar. Just put on headphones and breathe.) This week, I went to my 6-week followup, and I’m so happy to say it worked! I thought Dr. John was phenomenal at explaining things and giving data to back things up (my favorites were that this has worked on approximately 95-97% of his pati

I lived with pain in my feet and toes for years due to previous surgeries from another doctor. I then saw Dr. Shine John. He was able to perform surgery on my left foot with the new Cartiva implant and that foot is doing great. He also performed corrective surgery on my right big toe which required a bone implant. My recovery has gone well and I am able to walk without pain. I am very happy that I reached out to Dr. John and would recommend him to anyone having foot issues.

I drove 75 miles & was very pleased. Dr. John patiently heard my issues & examined my feet. He explained everything in detail & was very easy to talk to. I have plantar faciitis & other painful symptoms on both feet. He gave me a plan for shoes, orthotics & stretches. It was nice & to the point. I felt I was in extremely intelligent & capable hands. I would highly recommend Dr. John to anyone looking for special foot care.

Dr. John is absolutely Wonderful. I have worked with him in a professional setting and have taken care of several of his patients - not one complaint. When I had a broken bone in my foot, I knew who to see. Dr. John gave me all of my options and allowed me to participate in decisions about my care & treatment. Prior to scheduling surgery his office kept me informed about costs, what to expect, etc. Communication between Dr. John & his office staff is superb. Keep up the good work!

Dr. Shine is very professional and courteous. However, his office is not run well. I had a hard time calling to schedule and apt. Phone calls were not returned. Overall too much time wasted. Would recommend seeing better run offices and physicians.

Dr John is an excellent surgeon. He was very thorough about my hammertoe, explained all of my options thoroughly, and I ended up needing surgery on my toe despite efforts to avoid it. He was an excellent surgeon and I had a quick, painless recovery. I was fully active again (running, swimming, cycling, hiking) in 3-4 months. I can't recommend him enough. He's very personable too!

He has done surgery on me twice, for different feet. I could not ask for a better doctor! He did surgery on my left foot first and I was very satisfied. Later I had surgery with another podiatrist on my left foot. That choice was made due to convenience. The second podiatrist did a poor job and said he would perform the surgery again.Terrible experience! I went back to Dr.John for a third surgery on my left and he had a big repair job! I trust him!
