Dr Alexander truly respected me as an individual , despite what history and numbers i presented on paper. i was recommended to see him for high cholesterol and family history, that included my father dying at age 51 of an MI. When Dr Alexander learned that i was an avid distance runner, and the Ecg (EKG) that was performed in his office returned an abnormal finding, he decided to have it repeated. This second time, he, himself, placed the leads on my chest and it came back perfectly normal! We discussed statin drugs and my current diet and level of activity -- we mutually decided that drugs were NOT what i needed. He loaned me a copy of his book, " Running Healthy, A Guide to Cardiovascular Fitness" -- i read it and, as promised, returned it in 2 wks. When i returned to his office, he greeted me and my life partner, Bill Rodgers, personally in the waiting area. By this time i had purchased a copy of his book and he and Bill autographed and exchanged each others' books !
