Dr. Silvija Akbary, MD

Went into CHOA with child having severe chest pain and Dr. Akbary. Ran tests and ultra sounds for GI issues. Everything came back clear so we asked for the Cardiologist to check her heart and she told us NO. We would have to schedule an appointment with another doctor. Left the ER with a child having sever chest pains and a script for codine. Ridiculous.

Arrived at the ER for RSV symptoms. She did not even assess our child. Never listened to her breath and never looked at her chest. Proceeded to tell us she had an ear infection and sent us home. We were admitted into ICU the next day. She was quick to rush us out of the ER and didn’t care about our child’s care. She was terrible with going over treatment. When we tried to advocate for our child our concerns were not heard by her.

Unable to communicate effectively treatment plan, does not listen to parental concerns (dismissive), and seems more interested in getting your child out of the ER by treating symptoms than uncovering cause. These severe lack in abilities, which are especially important when working with children, led to a delay in treatment/ surgery with my child and permanent damage. (Arrived at CHOA at 9PM, did not receive adequate treatment until 12 PM the next day during the next doctor rounds followed by immediate surgery).
