Dr. Sonja Perkins, MD

Dr. Perkins performed my C-section in 2019 which caused my infertility. After my delivery she recommended getting back on an IUD bc we weren't ready for baby #2. At my follow up appointment, my uterus had pushed the IUD out & it was just sitting in my cervix. She just removed it and never investigated as to why, she just said 'sometimes the body does that'. I had countless appointments with complaints & struggles getting pregnant over the next few years with the practice & it wasn't until I met with a fertility specialist they diagnosed that my uterus had scarred shut from c-section trauma. It only took 1 saline ultrasound to make the diagnosis. By that point, scar tissue had been growing for 4 years & caused my uterus to be over 50% scarred & blocked a fallopian tube. It took 3 surgeries to remove the scar tissue & I've lost 2 babies since then bc my uterus was so damaged. If proper follow up care was taken the scar tissue might have been caught sooner & I wouldn't now be infertile.

I recently had a hysterectomy performed by Dr. Sonja Perkins. I was so impressed by the whole experience. All of the nurses in the pre op talked very highly of Dr. Perkins. Dr.Perkins is very easy to talk with, she is patient and provides all options and makes you feel comfortable. Everyone at Advent Health was wonderful. I am so glad that I found Dr. Perkins.

I truly think she is the best OB/GYN there is! She is brilliant AND has wonderful bedside manners. She will collaborate with your other doctors to assure your care is where it needs to be. Dr. Perkins has a kind soul and is a genuine compassionate person that I highly respect. These type of appointments can be uncomfortable but she has a way to make you feel very comfortable with yourself and with the appointment.
