Dr. Soo Kim abruptly canceled a needed procedure
I was scheduled for epidural spinal treatment with Dr. Soo Kim. The previous night, the appointment was cancelled without reason. I told the medical assistant that I am in severe pain. She interrupted me in mid-sentence several times. Immediately, I wrote to Dr. Soo Kim explaining that I have severe spinal pain and need either epidural oral treatment. She never responded. A month later, I told my PCP who contacted Dr. Soo Kim re: my need for treatment. Again, the same obnoxious medical assistant tel'd me for a 'discussion'. I explained my needs, and she insisted that I cancelled the original appointment which was false. Why would I cancel a needed appointment?! There was no follow-up for a treatment appointment. This is not a doctor who cares about patients.

The office's support staff amazes at Mt. Sinai Union Sq! Lovely, lovely people. Dr. S. Kim could really learn about customer service by observing these people. Highly recommend for her to do so. Dr. Kim failed to keep up with her colleagues' amazing, generous spirit. Dr. Kim is not warm or down to earth. I did not have a choice to see Dr. Kim because Dr. J. Mattson had left the practice. Dr. Mattson was amazing! Smart with wonderful bedside manners. Very warm human. Things for her to work on: Dr. Kim failed to respectfully and courteously end the appointment (I dismissed myself: Are we done, I asked?). She did not ask if I had further questions and she did not thank me for seeing her. And when it was discerned, no fault of my own, that she was not the right doctor for my bicep, she failed to refer me to a colleague. I had to ask a nurse about that after I left the exam room; the nurse was great and very helpful. Overall, very underwhelmed with this visit. While I am glad to learn that I do not have a fracture, after Dr. Kim's supercilious bedside manner, I do not recommend her. Instead seek out Dr. Daniel Spunberg, who has the same specialty as Dr. Kim. He is smart and has amazing bedside manner and patience.
