Happy to meet Dr. Freels
My scheduled appointment with Dr. Zahner was changed to Dr. Freels. She was patient and listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. I was very happy with my visit.

Not caring/rude
Did not introduce herself or shake my hand/look me in the eye as a new patient. Asked no questions and spent 4 minutes doing a cursory “exam”. I left feeling the immediate need to find another providor to actually do an exam in case there are real issues. Will not be returning and will not recommend.

I originally brought both my girls to the practice for a PA that I had heard great things about. She has since left the practice and so I switched to Dr. Freels since she had lots of open appts. After a few visits with her, I see why: she is unfriendly bordering on rude , barely looked at my daughter’s face and gave generic solutions. She talks more to her assistant than to my daughter. The appt was short and rushed. This practice also requires 3 month follow up appts if you want a prescription renewed . No other doctor that we use (primary, allergist, my dermatologist) requires return visits that frequently. There are lots of other dermatologists; there is no need to endure one that acts like Dr. Freels.

Do not recommend this dermatologist at all. Does not explain anything in detail and tries to make every appointment as short as possible. When asked questions, doesn't even bother to answer them or gives a short, undetailed answer. I basically was talking to her back for the lengthy 5 minute appointment I had. Always talks like she has one foot out the door and I do not feel like a priority. She barely looked at my skin and gave me a very general prescription that left my skin worse off.

I missed my appt b/c I was admitted to the hospital with amnesia. I am now taking medicine for a mini-stroke. I rescheduled with Dr. Freels as soon as I gained my memory back. During our appt she scolded me for missing my appt & could care less that missed it b/c I was in the hospital. She had no compassion & I have been seeing her for years now & have never missed an appt before. I saw a side of her that deeply concerns me; she lacked empathy & was flat out rude. I am so disappointed in her behavior. I will not be returning.

She spent no time with me, talked over me. Took me more time filling out paperwork in the office than seeing her. She put me on a bunch of meds with no explanation- one of which needs bloodwork every three months. My local pharmacist was concerned why nothing was explained to me. The office gave no visit summary paperwork and questioned why I would even want it! I’m terrified about other patients’ safety if she can’t even explain the prescriptions she’s giving!

Dr. Freels had horrible bedside manner. She basically just came in the room and started talking at me. I could barely get a word in and there was no honest discussion. The front desk staff was also rude and uninviting. No wonder I could get an appointment with her quickly...

This was my first visit to Dr. Freels. She removed a cyst from my neck that my GP did not want to do. I found her to be caring, communicative and competent. The procedure went quickly but carefully. I had no pain or discomfort at the time of the procedure or later. Dr. Freels provided comprehensive after procedure instructions.

I have visited Dr. Freels for multiple skin problems and have always been satisfied. I was seen on time, in a spotless, nicely decorated office (St. Charles location) and my concerns were addressed accurately and honestly. Dr. Freels' style might be described as breezy by some, but she does not miss much. She has been real with me, practical and helpful. She was deft when a biopsy was necessary and concerned about causing me as little pain as possible.
