Dr. Stephanie Malliaris, MD

Dr. Malliaris had the typical demeanor of a surgeon: cold, nearly robotic, bedside manner. For over half a year I've been asking every care provider I came in contact with if they thought a breast reduction had the potential to resolve or reduce my persistent neck + shoulder pain, and the answer was always the same --- non-committal; ask your plastic surgeon. When I finally got in front of a plastic surgeon, her answer was just as useless. "It could possibly help, but there's no way to know"; "it's an elective surgery, and it's for you to decide". I was looking for a professional opinion from someone that has presumably done this procedure before and heard post-op patients' experiences. I received no guidance or recommendations or past experiences. Just repeated advice to lose weight. Thank goodness there was an assistant there to treat me like a human and offer tissues when I began to cry.
