The pre op appointment was efficient, thorough and answered all my questions. Office staff courteous and friendly. Received information about the date of surgery and a contact person for additional questions and concerns. although surgery is not a pleasant experience, Dr. Merola and staff make it as tolerable as possible.

Searching for a general surgeon at NY Hosp., Queens, I came across Dr. Merolla's website. His impressive credentials and great patient comments convinced me to make an appointment. I was met by two assistants who asked whether I had any contact with people who infected with Covid 19. My temperature was checked and I was then directed to the doctor's spotlessly clean waiting room with comfortable seating. Later, in the exam room, I met the masked Dr. Merolla, who was at once friendly and cheerful. He wasted no time explaining the problem I thought I had, doing a physical check of the problem area, and deciding that my problem was not what I had thought. He showed me on a computer how the spinal nerves were arrayed and how a back pain could be felt elsewhere. Dr. Merolla suggested that no surgery was needed at this time, and that if things become worse I should contact him right away. Dr. Merolla, is for me, everything a doctor should be. Highly recommended.

I was fortunate enough to learn of Dr.Merola and had surgery with him in 2002. He is an amazing surgeon and an even more amazing human being. He is a very knowledge dr and takes his time with you. His bedside manner is like none I’ve ever seen. He is caring and always has your best interest and safety as a priority. He operated on my husband and 5 other friends and we all had excellent results. God bless.
