Dr. Stephen Onesti, MD

I found Dr Onesti to be very unsympathetic and stiff. I have disc issues l4 s1 and unbearable pain when sitting. The phrase I heard over and over each visit was- Well I've seen worse Mris than yours. Don't know why you have that pain. - When I asked for his support, which consisted of filling out a three page form for disability, He had one foot out the door and talked about all the scams that occur with disability, making me feel like a criminal. He didn't think surgery was a viable option for me, and I agreed, so I don't know if he's a good surgeon.

Dr. Onesti is excellent and gives you the confidence you need to move ahead. He is caring, thoughtful, responsive and I can highly recommend him. You are in good hands with Dr. Onesti. Christine his assistant is also excellent.

Attention to details and being able to see the forest through the trees so to speak .. helped when i had internal shingles and all other Dr's just wanted to me have surgery due to my MRI's, scans, etc .. he listened to the entire problem and symptoms ..

he is very thorough, caring and knowledgeable. i felt very comfortable and assured. i love his assistant, Christine, too. made my visit very easy.

Dr. Onesti and his team performed my ACDF surgery and the entire process was very easy. This was the first time I had to have surgery and they were all very supportive and they made me feel comfortable. I knew what to expect every step of the way and while I would have opted to not need the surgery at all I’m thankful to have found Dr. onesti and have him perform my surgery. He is very transparent and responsive. He checks in and follows up with you regularly so you never feel anxious or unsupported. I highly recommend Dr. Onesti if you are looking for a spine surgeon or doctor.

Dr. Onesti has been my neurosurgeon since 2005, because of him implanting the spinal cord stimulator in my back I am able to function. He is without a doubt the best at what he does & I would not let any other doctor operate on my spine. I have full confidence & trust in & with Dr. Onesti.

I highly recommend this doctor. He is very knowledgeable skilled with excellent patient care and bedside manner. He saved my dad who I brought to the ER for concerns of dementia and upon CAT scan needed immediate surgery. I was unsure if we should transfer from South Nassau to have this surgery done elsewhere, however after speaking to the doctor on the phone convinced me that he was the man and I can feel fully confident in him and South Nassau. The doctor kept In contact with me throughout his drive to the hospital directly after surgery and follow ups. I am forever grateful to have found him.

Dr. Onesti's receptionist is caring and efficient. The office is pleasant and my waiting time was short. Although my condition is not serious, it does have troublesome symptoms. Dr. Onesti listened and showed understanding of my complaints. He wrote an extensive report with recommendations for my other health providers. He also encouraged me to return if ever I needed to further discuss my problems.

I had my first visit with Dr. Onesti who came highly recommended as a great diagnostician. My symptoms were vague but my pain was great. Dr. Onesti is an excellent listener and was able to interpret my symptoms and direct care. He reassured me and made me comfortable. Until meeting with him I did not feel that the other practitioners took the time to get to the cause of my symptoms. Excellent !!!

We met Dr Onesti yesterday and were so pleased. His calm demeanor made all the difference. Mom ,age 92 approaching 93 shortly, was able to understand what is going on and Dr Onesti didn’t mind repeating and rephrasing his diagnosis for her. Dr Onesti’s assistant was also very helpful and kind. I think we have arrived at the correct road moving forward

I have had multiple times of disc herniation that causes sciatica over the years. Dr Onesti performed the 3rd time laminectomy to take care of my disc herniation. I have been trusting him forever since every time he takes care of my issue as well as my any need so perfectly well. I mean he not only performs excellent surgery but also so knowledgeable and patient to very kindly take care of every and any of my concern.

I went to Doctor Onesti for my back problem and he helped me to recover within a short period of time. The doctor is very kind to his patients. I'll refer him to my family and friends.

Making an appointment was easy. A staff member called me back when she said she would. The office was clean and tidy. I was taken in on time. Dr. Onesti was nice. He listened and answered questions. This practice is pretty low tech. Rather than filling out an online form I was mailed pages of intake forms to bring in with me. My films on disc were viewed in another room so there was no opportunity to review them together. The doctor brought in a old model of the spine and pointed. Unimpressive and it makes me wonder if their medical protocols are out of date too.

Explained my problem well

Dr. Onesti was engaging, informative and straightforward. He explained the procedure that I was going to have, including the benefits and risks, as well my responsibilities post surgery. Overall, a positive experience.

Dr. Onesti is a great doctor. Communicative, highly competant, wonderful rapport, wonderful staff. Offered me all the treatments available to my condition. Highly recommend Dr. Onesti.

Dr. Onesti operated on my mom and did an extremely good job for her. She had complications of severe arthritis involving her spine that were causing her terrible pain and making her stand and walk hunched over - and Dr. Onesti seriously improved both problems, and really improved her life by a lot. And, he treated her extremely well in addition, both before and after the procedure. He is an outstanding physician.

I had surgery in May of 2017. Could not have had a better outcome. Best physician in his field.
