Im having to get a new doctor
We were late because of a wreck on the parkway. It was not my fault that I was late. I even called tell them to tell them that I was running late. They said, oh, you have a 15 minute grace period. I wound up being 4 minutes past the grace period. When I got there, the receptionist said that they “no showed” me. I told her that I called to let them know about the wreck and I would be late. She said that I actually talked to some service in Atlanta and not them. How was I to know that I was speaking to some service? I was so upset. I’m still upset. The receptionist was ugly and got very defensive raising her voice. I guess any doctor who has uncaring, ugly acting folks working for them isn’t a doctor, or PA I want to see anyway. I mean, there was a wreck. I called. FOUR minutes. Ridiculous. I’m so upset. The worst part, I’ve been a patient there for years.

Staff late and socializing
I had the first appointment at 8am and was early. I noticed the staff arriving intermittently late then socializing in the back rather than ushering patients into exams. It wouldn’t have been an issue except I had an infusion immediately after my appointment. I thought it very unprofessional

Dr Carpenter is exceptional
Dr. Carpenter was quickly able to assess my situation and order the proper tests to evaluate the condition and plan next steps. He was also an extremely effective communicator and was reliable in following through on what he said would happen. He was truly a great physician and a patient advocate.

Dr Steven Carpenter is the best hands down . Yes I would recommend him absolutely. I had both procedures done with him , the colonoscopy and the endoscopy and he went above and beyond to explain procedures before and after and made me feel extremely comfortable . He is your man !

I did not like him, at all. He was condescending and left me full of fear...I am now a nervous wreck about my health. It almost felt like he was scolding me. He spent the majority of my appointment looking through my records (I’ve had this appointment for months...he had plenty of time to look through everything prior to my visit so he could have been prepared for my appointment). The rest of the time he spent telling me I was wrong about what I think is wrong with me. I may be wrong. I probably am wrong, as I am not a physician ...but I know my body and how it feels more than anyone else. I’ve got many tests and procedures scheduled with him in the near future. Ugh. I don’t have to like him if he can fix me, though.

I was new in town and happened to select Dr, Carpenter. He said my pain did not sound like his normal patients. He suggested a CY scan. I was still having some discomfort and he suggested a cardiologist. I went that afternoon, The next morning, they discovered I had a 95% blockage, and I also had a stent put in that morning. Dr. Carpenter did an endoscopy and did find some benign trouble spots, but that has gotten better. I was also having some swallowing problems and he strecthed my esophagus. That had been recommended before but I put it off. He was very good at explaining what would be done and what I could expect. I highly recommend him

Had a great first appointment with Dr. Carpenter. He was very thorough, very pleasant and listened. As I have moved from another State and needed a doctor here in Savannah to continue my treatment, I would like to continue working with him. However, I am finding communication severley lacking! No response to messages sent via portal, no answer to phone calls (you are sent directly to voice mail), and no call backs to voice messages left! Weeks with no response! This is troubling as I need to be able to be in contact with my doctor if needed. I need my medication and it does not seem urgent to them. They seem too busy to provide effective patient care. I will need to find another doctor as this is unacceptable! My previous doctor and staff always responded in a timely manner. Customer service sucks!!

Awful front office staff and just can’t deal with the insurance bait and switch. Stuck me with bills as they switched billing companies at the end of the year and although HE took my insurance, the billing company didn’t. His office said all was good, I’d met my deductible, and I scheduled the procedure. Checked with w my insurance and all was good. Imagine the shock to get a 2-3k bill as SELF PAY during the corona pandemic. The staff can’t answer any questions. Carpenter has gotten too busy for me and I’m liking elsewhere. Reporting the insurance nightmare so that others are warned how this practice treats their patients. BEWARE!!!!

During this COVID-19 period we are not wanting to go to doctors' offices if at all possible. When my husband developed a gastro issue I spoke with several nurses at the office and finally Dr. Carpenter spoke with my husband. He listened and prescribed appropriate medicines which helped the condition. They have a virtual call set up to go over everything and to ensure that he is recovering.
