Extraction Nerve Damage
Extraction done in 2019.The office in Fair Lawn operated like an assembly line. Dr. DiRienzo rushes from one room to the next with little regard. He hastily administered general anesthesia as I was middle of a conversation with him and before all my questions were answered. Half-way through, I woke up to him roughly yanking out my wisdom tooth as searing pain filled my jaw. When I cried out he said nothing to me and told the assistant to push more drugs to knock me out again. The aftermath was unbearable. As soon as the local anesthesia began to wear off I knew something wasn't right. The pain was excruciating! I quickly developed dry socket lasting 2 months. Several post-op visits where he only applied a clove paste packing of the socket provided little relief all the while denying it's dry socket. I now have permanent nerve damage and sensitivity in the entire lower half of my jaw including half my tongue. He was disappointingly indifferent and dismissive throughout it all.

Extraction Nightmare
Arrived to his office to find no one there and phones off. When a staff member finally arrived (after my appointment time and with food in hand) I was chastised for arriving at the time of my appointment and informed that Dr. Dirienzo would not be arriving for another hour at least. I then woke up from under the anesthesia less than halfway through a 4 wisdom tooth extraction, confused and experiencing much pain and a strong burning sensation in my IV. I was told by the doctor that it was not his responsibility to explain to me what was going on or why it happened. He and his assistant then left the room for several minutes in the middle of the procedure leaving me there to bleed and cry in my pain and confusion. If you enjoy being yelled at and disrespected this is the oral surgeon for you.

I went into the office in early January of 2021 for an extraction and the Dr. and I decided to take 2 out and get it over with (the best decision ever) . The procedure was done so quickly and so smoothly the meter maid that I had met on my way in was even impressed he hadn’t even gotten to the middle of the block before I returned. My ride was totally impressed as well as I was. Since then I have recommend and even driven 4 family members to his practice. The best money I have ever spent. Dr. Dirienzo you are the best of the best. Thank you

The oral surgery went well. I would recommend Dr. D but not at his Bayonne office. I had to wait around 30 minutes beyond the scheduled time for my appointment. Basically no big deal. However, social distancing was difficult as there were already several people waiting. Receptionist(s) weren't particularly friendly While I was given post operative instructions both verbally and in writing, I was still recuperating from full sedation and therefore can't remember what they told me. I must have left my written instructions at the office, the person should've handed it to my partner and driver as I was not clearly functioning. NO one ever followed up to call the next day to see how I was doing. I had some issues for which I needed guidance and when I called them the next business day it was just before 5 PM apparently they were already closed, so I left a message on voice mail. We'll see if they return my call. If not I'll call again. Otherwise I'll call my regular dentist.

The doctor has a very weird personality, can't understand why he chose this profession knowing peoples' distrust of dentists. He doesn't wash or sanitize his hands. Almost got into an argument with him over that right before he performed my surgery. It was a very uncomfortable experience. His explanations are minimal and any follow up questions asked are dismissed. The staff that works closely with him is very passive aggressive and rude. The other kind lady is the only reason I followed through with my procedure. I saw the bad reviews before and should have listened before going, but now I know. I will definitely not be recommending him nor the office.
