You Decide
Dr. Karas cared for my husband for 10 years after we moved here to retire. His health declined progressively. He swelled up like a balloon man, legs turned black - he had had 3 open hearts previously but was doing well. This doctor had no suggestions to help. After years of my husband feeling put off and neglected, this doctor decided to do a heart catheter through the groin, just to explore. My husband bled profusely at every puncture from blood thinners. We trusted Dr. Karas. His decision killed my husband who died of complications. From a catheter. His leg exploded. You decide.

Poor customer service
Had an irregular pre-op EKG. Was advised to follow up with my cardio-left voice messages with Dr Karas staff after several unanswered phone calls. Evidently an established patient’s irregular EKG doesn’t qualify for a call back. Found another cardiologist.

No time for established patients
10 minute annual check up for heart condition, always scheduled one year in advance by the office. A week before this year’s scheduled appointment, I was contacted and told that Dr. Karas is too busy to see me and I would be seen by a nurse practitioner instead. Apparently can’t spare 10 minutes once a year for an established patient.

Dr. Karas was the cardiologist on call when I was in ICU at the heart center Holmes Regional Hospital, Melbourne Florida from 111/30 till 12/2. This was my first meeting with Dr. Karas who presented himself with a hand shake and a friendly bed side manner. To say the least, I was very impressed with Dr. Karas who I would recommend highly.

67 year old male CAB patient of the good doctor. He seems to not remember me from visit to office visit. Maybe he is under pressure from HF, to see too many patients? Last year he suggested a NEW treatment for me as the Coronary Arterial Bypass (CAB) he recommended in 2014 didn't produce a good outcome for me. Four years later, I still suffered from terrible persistent angina. He got me hopeful and exited that the new treatment, Enhanced External Counter Pulsation (EECP) was just the thing "for a guy that doesn't like pills"(his words). Long story short, I was repeatedly denied the EECP by Health First and Dr. Karas still does not seem to recognize me, after treating me for several years.

I have been seeing Dr. Karas for 3 or 4 years now. He is always prepared. He knows how to talk to his patients. He is attentive. He talks to you, not at you. He always leaves time for questions that I have. I admire and trust this doctor. The only thing that I do not like is that I can now only see Dr. Karas on every second visit. Apparently there is some sort of rotation that was implemented where I have to see a different doctor on those alternate years.

every thing was fine until this January when i was informed i had to see the pa from now on and i asked to be rescheduled so i could see the Dr himself because i was just out of viera hospital with a fib and felt safer seeing him i was refused and told that is not the way it is done anymore has it really gotten to the point that health first is putting money before safety of its patience i think so all they want is to schedul as many patients as they can so as to fill there pockets
