Dr. Steven Maskin, MD

I struggled for 3 plus years getting a diagnosis , going to multiple different eye docs in the Orlando area, I finally consulted Dr Maskin, I was very impressed with my first visit, he takes his time , and plan on being there most part of the day , he asks you many questions, about your life style, diet, your environment and previous medical history. He is determined to get to the root cause of your disease, I did lipiflow, IPL in the past as well as probing with 2 other docs in Orlando, however they did not count and evaluate every single gland , and refused to do my upper lids. I also like that he injects steroids into every gland , it helps with ugly looking puffy eyelids if you were to need that. He diagnosed me with a very rare eye disease, I went to Boston to get a biopsy done of my conjunctiva and he was spot on. One needs to understand that dry eye disease is a complicated malady, your co morbidities need to be identified and treated . I highly recommend him.

TRULY EXCEPTIONAL!! I became a patient of Dr Maskin early December 2019. I am not a person that is quick to write a review as I like a wait and see approach before I make a judgement. During the past 4 years I have seen at least 7 different ophthalmologists/optometrists , no one could properly diagnose me. One of my conditions is very rare, 1 in a million according to European articles, but he spotted it right away. I did go to Boston to an immunologic ophthalmologist to get my disease staged, and check into genetic susceptibility for my kids, and to calm my fears, as to that part of the country is where all the research is done for my particular case. Dr Maskin had already put me on the right immunosuppressants before my trip to Boston. I also suffer from meibomian gland dysfunction and severe dry eye. Probing of the glands is the only thing that works for me, tried out others but they do a mediocre job. Nothing better than the inventor himself!! SIMPLY THE BEST!!

After I had laser surgery I had multiple problems with my eye including severe dry eye. After going to 4 different opthalmologists in the same clinic, I was still having a lot of irritation, redness, scratchiness, etc in both eyes. In desperation I started searching dry eye specialists on the internet and found Dr. Maskin. He quickly pinpointed my problems and gave me a treatment plan. I had a staph infection, eye mites and conjunctivochalasis. My eyes now feel great!!

After seeing multiple doctors in multiple states for my dry eye. Dr. Maskin is the only doctor that has been able to provide any relief. He is diligent in getting to the cause of the dry eye and solving the problem, not just prescribing eye drops like most opthamologists. He also seems to take a personal interest in his patients and advancing the treatment of dry eye. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is suffering from dry eye.

It has been one year since I developed this horrible dry eye disease. This has been a journey that I wouldn't ask anyone to endure. However, after six doctors I found Dr. Maskin and that has saved my sanity. There were days I didn't want to get up in the morning and couldn't wait to go to bed at night. Actually that was most of my days. Today, I am writing because I want to thank Dr. Maskin for his perseverance. I can now function and enjoy life again. He is the best!!!
