Billing practices are suspect
I suffer empty nose syndrome. I was hopeful he would be able to assist me. He was not. I am not upset he was unable to help, but their billing practices are ridiculous. I strongly encourage ALL patients to double check their bill. You will be billed for the office visit, any procedure incurred and a mystery charge. It turns out the additional charge is a "facility" charge. Yep...they charge to step foot in the building. It is a $398 additional charge. Be careful!

I have had sinus issues my entire life, and have had 3 surgeries from 3 different doctors. Dr. Kountakis is the only one who has ever explained what I needed to do to help prevent the need for further surgery. In every office visit, I feel like I have had all my questions answered, and have received the best care available. Highly, highly recommend!

A few years back I was diagnosed with a rare serious sinus problem. About a year after my diagnoses my specialist moved to Maine. He was adamant that with my condition there were very few people in the southeast who understood it and were capable of treating me correctly. At that time, he recommended that I go see Dr Kountakis. Years later I couldn't be happier with him.

He really didnt listen to my condition and history concerning my ongoing issues with sinus infections. He is not one to listen and to fully explain why certain issues are going on. I left feeling more confused than when I came in. if you are looking for a doctor that rushes in and rushes out, then he is your doctor.

Dr Kountakis and his staff's performance was non less than excellent! I would highly recommend his care to my loved ones and close friends. There is virtually no evidence of a procedure which highlights the skill and care for his craft. He was reassuring and confident throughout the process which helped immensely!

I had a severe sleep apnea, which caused me out of breadth, waking me up regularly in the middle of night. Dr. Kountakis has suggested me a surgery and explained in detail about how it will be done. He removed my enlarged two tonsils (tonsilectomy) and cut part of upper palate which draped and blocked the airway. Furthermore, he straightened abnormal nasal passage on my left nostril. Amazingly, after this surgery, which took about 2 hours, my sleep apnea was gone and I could breathe normally.

Excellent, excellent surgeon!!! Had polypectomy in 2008 and haven't had to have any surgeries since. Since childhood with chronic sinusitis I hadn't gone more than 2 yrs before requiring more surgery. Very attentive to details...I told him about my tendency to bleed during surgery & have problems with nausea from anesthesia. First time after 10+ surgeries in my lifetime that I didn't have to be admitted for bleeding and/or nausea after surgery. I was actually able to go home the same day!!
