Worst
I've been seeing neurologists since I was a child for epilepsy and have had all sorts of experiences but this practice takes the cake. I have never dealt with such an arrogant, dismissive uncaring group, from the Office staff to Dr. Shafer and Stacy Smith ever. I had some hope for Stacy, she may have been less caring than Shafer. The office staff is uncaring and condecencing. Calling patients Honey and Sweetie is unprofessional. Actively searching for an alternative however there aren't many choices in this area with more than 2 stars. I can't say enough bad things about him.

Inefficient Staff, Slow patient care
He was 45m late for the appointment, which was the first of the day. When I said something to the staff because I had an appointment afterwards, he showed up. At first he didn't listen to me at all; until I said I worked in healthcare.Everytime I call this office, I'm on hold for 5-20 minutes. Appointments are booked out 6 weeks. I'll be looking for another neurologist. I'm in agony and my MRI was 6 weeks ago. No response from them to move up the appointment, which was indicated when it was made.

Dr. Shafer is a nice person but a Terrible Dr. His whole staff is cold and uncaring and the atmosphere is very uncomfortable. He is more of a business man. He is ALWAYS at least an hour late. His staff is not friendly at all. RUN away as fast as you can.

"My sister just had 1st visit with him. He repeated more than once that "HE is interviewing ME". He was condescending, combative and in disbelief of her long term conditions, as a result of surgeries for aneurysm brain and later AVM over a 20 year span; he simply did not believe her diagnosis or that she should be taking the prescribed medications that help manage her pain. SHE WAS INTERVIEWING HIM so she could stop her drive to Broward County to see her Neurology Team. He appeared angered that she was so knowledgeable regarding medications. He literally treated her with utmost disrespect and almost accusingly of exaggerating her pain. It is obvious this "physician" is out of his league when it comes to treating such serious conditions that she is living with. Her entire family is so disappointed in his behavior toward my family member. She has been so let down and humiliated by this doctor as we were all so hopeful that she would find local treatment. We're grateful she recorded this.

Expected more compassion and sympathy for my terminally ill husband.I mean really what does that say for them as being healthcare providers let alone human beings.Im sure if it were their family member being treated as such they would be appled by the treatment we received. The doctor did not take more than 5 minutes after my husband having to wait 50 minutes beyond his appointment time to be seen. Dr.Shafer was very quick in and out the door . Barely looked up from his desk which was across the room.Never once examined my husband.Did not explain things very well and the staff did not call in his medications until 2 Days later. I had to call for 2 days to have his medications called in. I suggest to do research and find a different neurologist to go to. One that has a better than a 3.4 star. Because there's actually a reason for that. ....And further more Stacy the Pa office manager whatever her title is was very rude and uncaring about my terminally ill husband and my concerns

Was scared from reviews and they are not true. Best visit with a dr I had in a long time and the nurse practitioner took 1.5 hours with me and they are so nice. People need to remember every job every office has days where they work too hard and they are human like all and maybe one had an off day. They scheduled me in ASAP worked w me on a new job coming soon with getting all my test in less than a week. One MA was nice just very serious so I think others take that wrong. She’s smart too! Glad I went

Started having migraines, as many as 3 a week, this was going on for months - impossible to live like that. My primary dr. referred me to Dr. Schaefer. Under Dr. Schafer's care, I've gone from 3 migraines every week and most of the week in bed hiding from noise, lights... to having only 2 migraines in the 3 months since I saw him. Short wait time in waiting room and thorough, no nonsense care. Highly recommend this dr.

Horrible experience! Medication mistakes led to an ER visit! He doesn't care and would leave you on the side of the road dead if he could.

Incompetent and confused. Rushed through appointments. It was always like he never even bothered to so much as glance at my chart before entering the room. Never knew what Rx or treatments I was taking. Terrible office. Hateful, cold & rude staff. Snotty, teenaged receptionists. Passive-Aggressive, condescending office manager. Suspicious billing activity; took my money AND billed insurance for same services totaling over $400. Mystery $100 charge went unexplained and when I refused to pay it, the office withheld an important MS treatment that I needed to help me walk again! I felt like they hijacked my health. They don't care about their patients. They care about their patients $$$. Disgusting & very sad. Never again.

I had a horrific work related auto accident several years ago causing many extreme physical "permanent" injuries to my body. Dr. Shafer is helping me more thru this than any other neurologist I've seen. He's compassionate and extremely knowledgeable, spends enough time with me and answers any questions I have. I can tell he cares so I feel like a person in his office not a number so I feel comfortable and safe. I highly recommend Dr. Shafer.

My wife has been seeing Dr. Shafer for 3 years now. I can't think of anything good about the visits I've witnessed. Extremely long wait times, inability to handle simple things like blood work prescriptions, and a rushed attitude at all times. Today he told my wife that his office wasn't for her because she had a billing question on her last visit. He abandoned a 3 year MS patient. BEWARE!

I had been diagnosed with migraines and couldn’t put my finger on what the trigger was.....all it took for him was to look at my paperwork and tell me what it was.....I was addicted to CAFFEINE! So he had me give up coffee SLOWELY and prescribed medication. I’ve had very few migraines and when I do they don’t put me down for days...it’s more like hours! I recommend him and my sister is going to go see h I’m next.

At age 70 I had never been to a neurologist. Dr. Shaefer was referred to me by my eye doctor. I was nervous about my condition but we took things step by step and reached a Dx, and a suitable Tx plan. I also worked w/ his P.A., which was beneficial. I have been pleased w/ all the staff and w/ my care. Thank you. M.L. Robinson

I've been with Dr. Shaffer since 2006. I lost count years ago how many times my Px was never called in to the pharmacy, or they used the wrong form when faxing in the Px. He and his staff type away furiously at the computer each visit yet he has to ask me what meds I'm on. I cary a card in my wallet listing my Px's. He moved from this huge office to a practice of his own. I thought things would be different. No.

Looking for an office that is more attentive to their patients. My mom saw him once and his staff 3 times and they didn't have any idea what meds she was on after 9 months. Not going back here and can't recommend.
