Dr. Stuart Sheifer, MD

I have been with Dr Sheifer for 20 years or more. From the outset, I have been impressed with his monitoring heart valve ailments and tweaking the meds, if required. Along the way, a stent was installed. Finally, in 2021, after consultation with others at Virginia Heart, it was decided that surgery was in order to repair a valve. More than expected was required. The Aorta valve was replaced and two other valves required repair! A 5-hour operation, outstanding post-op care by the entire staff, and most surprising of all! Absolutely no pain! More than 3 years later and I'm feeling great as confirmed recently by Dr. Sheifer. I highly recommend the specialists at Virginia Heart and Dr. Sheifer in particular.

Dr. Sheifer is a wonderful cardiologist to work with to sort out my unique cardio disease, to determine its scope and how to most effectively deal with it. He is a thoughtful listener and he uses his knowledge and experience to put the various pieces together to best treat me. This was a routine follow up. My husband and I moved 1.5 hours southwest of Richmond November 2018 and we continue to drive the 3-4 hours (depending on traffic) to see him. When in my first years of seeing him (48 years old) I was scheduled for a cardiac cath and had emergency bypass surgery the next morning. I’m 60 now and truly believe I’m still alive because of Dr Sheifer and the VA Heart staff. They are all knowledgeable, professional and they really care. Thank you Dr Sheifer-you saved my life.

Dr. Sheifer is a good cardiologist. However, I have been trying since the end of December 2022 to schedule my yearly visit!! I am due in May 2023. When I went last May 2022, they said his appointment calendar is only 6 months out and I could not schedule my next visit. I have been trying for 4 months! Each time I call, they say there are no appointments and to call back at the beginning of the next month when appointments open back up for the 6th month out. Then I call on the 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th, and they say the schedule has not opened. Then I call back a couple days later and all the appointments are already gone for the month that opened up. I am on a waiting list that should allow me to get the next appointment that opens up, but I don't get an appointment. Now I am told to wait until the beginning of March to try to get an appointment in September! I am willing to see him at any of his office locations, but that does not help either.

Dr Sheifer is an expert in his specialty, very knowledgeable and friendly.

A good listener, doesn't rush you, concerned about your health.
