Rude and unprofessional
Does not take sickle cell patients seriously. Approached my boyfriend in the ER and proceeded to tell him that he has “10 years experience dealing with Sickle Cell patients,” and that my boyfriend is just a “drug dependent, drug addict” because he was not verbally mute due to him pain level like his “other sickle cell patients”. If you are unfamiliar with sickle cell disease please look it up, it is not joke and my boyfriend has landed in emergency surgery before due to ignorant doctors, like this one, who dismiss his pain. Sickle cell is also not something that everyone handles the same. Regardless, This is not how you treat people, and it is very upsetting that Memorial Hermann is allowing their doctors to speak to people like this.
