A long time patient...
I've been a patient of Dr. Dorsey for at least 12 yrs, maybe a bit longer. I've never had any major issues that have had to be handled, mainly just some moles to be checked. However, she's always been patient, kind and I've not felt rushed or any kind of irritation from her with questions I've asked. I'm confident in recommending her for anyone looking for a Dermatologist.

The office staff is fabulous here! The waiting time was reasonable. The supporting staff was excellent! Dr Dorsey did her best to give a thorough and good diagnosis and listen to me. I have, however, found doctors who did better diagnoses, and who were warmer in their one-on-one approach. This is not her fault, in my opinion. This is just not her strength, at least in my experience.

I went to Dr Dorsey when I was younger for acne. She was okay, just a bit distant. Then years later, I developed a rash that I thought was coming from a change in makeup. I researched the makeup after using it and a rash could be a side effect if it was not right for my skin. I made appointment with Dorsey. Well, Dr Dorsey got really hateful with me. She said, "you have not been to me in so many years and you expect me to say the rash is coming from the makeup?. That is Rosea." She is rude.. I have not been back to see her.

My mother moved her and started to see Dr. Dorsey based on friend referral. After some time, mom went in and Dr. Dorsey said she had a cyst and did not do anything else (in fact the whole appointment was a mess, late and rushed maybe 10 minutes total with doc). My mom had a history of basal and squamous cell carcinomas and all of this was in her file and medical records when she transferred. Dr. Dorsey did not even take the time to biopsy the "cyst". Mom actually had a form of skin cancer and died two years later. You may not see any malpractice on her record, but my mother died before we could get too far in the process. She is terrible and does not care. In her deposition during the initial phase of the malpractice suit, she stated clearly she did nothing wrong and not once was apologetic. My mother's life was worth more than this.

I arrived for my appointment that was scheduled for 3:30 pm. I was not seen until after 4pm. Once I got back with the nurse I was told that they did not have time to do a fully body exam and that I would need to come back and be charged for an additional appointment for my lower half of my body. I was also brushed off by both the nurse and the dr about my family history of melanoma and did not use a light when checking the top half of my body. My actual face to face with her was less than 10 minutes after I waited for over 30 minutes past my appointment time to see her. After my appointment I called about my concern to carilion patient advocacy because I didn't feel like I was treated fairly, I wasn't told ahead of time about the two seperate appointment requirement and I didn't think I should be billed for the visit when I was treated less than sufficiently. 5 days after placing my concern I received a retaliation letter from Susan Dorsey advising me that she did not have time to t

Dr. Dorsey is the best Dr. I have ever been to. I have skin cancer problems from working in the sun all my life and had a lot taken off.She is very low key, and just a very sweet person, I would highly recommend her. You will be very at ease when she is working on you, I would not go any where else. Robert Akers
