He was just ok. There was an incident when my mother was ill and only getting worse, showed signs of a reaction to an anti nausea medication, I was with her at the appointment and my siblings and I agreed we wanted her off that medication since it caused her to have symptoms that mirrored Parkinson’s. When I brought it up and tried to explain her symptoms, he began yelling at me. As if I were an idiot who knew nothing. I’m a nurse so I was well aware of what was happening. I left there uneasy knowing my mother’s life was in his hands and when we were expressing concern, he instead just dismissed our concerns. We saw the side effects, she didn’t. We took my mother off of the medication and wouldn’t you know it, she stopped having those side effects!! Sometimes the family is the patients voice. We must advocate for them when they cannot advocate for themselves. As a nurse, I would NEVER speak to a patient the way he spoke to me. In this field, bedside manner is important. His was awful.

My husband was a patient of Dr Ahmed. I never regret anything in my life as much as a decision to choose him. The treatments doctor recommended didn't work And my husband's condition was worsening and in this critical time doctor just went on vacation for several weeks! He should have insisted on my husband being admitted to clinical studies at UIC when they turned him down. After that my husband wasn't given chemo that could prolong his life! Choose a different doctor.
