Dr. Symeon Zannikos, MD

I had a great experience all around with Dr. Zannikos and the office. From making the initial appointment to scheduling the surgery everything was smooth and the staff was friendly. I had a microdiscectomy done and recovered without any problems. I am very glad I had the surgery and pleased with the care that Dr. Zannikos provided.

Dr Zannikos is a great surgeon. He is very kind and friendly. I have found him very easy to work with and talk to and he has the ability to explain the problem and surgery well so I can understand what is going on. He makes a lot of time to talk before and after surgery, I had ACDF surgery almost 6 months ago and I am very thankful for the relief. I recommend him to anyone I can.

He performed an unnecessary 6 level fusion, didn,t put a curve in my back causing flat back sydrome. I had to had it all redone 6 months later. I am now crippled. Plus the guy who does back braces started screaming in the office because I wanted to return a back brace and I left in tears.

Our overall experience with Dr. Zannikos and ONE was great. I had surgery with him almost 5 years ago and most recently my wife had a cervical disc replacement about 7 months ago and her arm felt better immediately after surgery. She was slowly able to resume all her activities over time and is back to her normal self doing anything she wants without any problems. Dr Zannikos was reassuring and stayed in touch with us throughout the whole time. He is very easy to communicate with and we are both very thankful for giving us our life and activities back!

Dr. Zannikos did my lumbar fusion surgery in February after a year of physical therapy, medications and injections did not work. I was very impressed with Dr. Zannikos and the whole office staff. Dr. Zannikos is an awesome doctor and everyone was so nice and helpful and made me comfortable with the entire process. I have had no problems and now I have been able to get back to almost all the activities I would like to be doing. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a surgeon

After many years of back and leg pain it has now been a year since I have my lumbar fusion surgery (XLIF procedure). I feel a million times better and I am constantly still improving. I am so happy I made this decision and I have zero regrets. The level of care I received at Orthopedics New England and at Newton Wellesley Hospital was excellent.

I had been dealing with back and leg pain for several years. I was able to deal with the pain for the first year with physical therapy and injections for the first few years but the pain continued to get worse over time and the injections no longer provided relief. I was referred to Dr. Zannikos through my physiatrist. Dr. Zannikos pinpointed my condition as soon as I started explaining my symptoms. He patiently went over the causes and the possible solutions to my problem. We eventually decided to proceed with a one level fusion at L4-5 (TLIF). I had that performed at NESS and I was able to go home the same day. I was amazed by how quickly I was able to walk and go home after a spinal fusion! I had expected the worst in terms of recovery but this was much better and easier that I expected. I am now about 5 months from surgery and feel the best I have felt in years. One of the best decisions I have made! Please save your self the pain and make an appointment if you have back orleg pain

He's very professional and a very personable surgeon. I was referred to him by my neighbor. I found that Dr. Zannikos and his PA Sarah listened to all my concerns and explained the whole process very thoroughly. My surgery was performed within 2 weeks of seeing him in the office and I had several appointments with him and Sarah after surgery to check on my progress. I have recovered well after my microdiscectomy and I have been recommending him to all my other neighbors and friends with back issues!

Awesome experience, wish I had visited Dr Zannikos sooner

I was referred to Dr. Zannikos from my PCP. I was able to make an appointment promptly and when I showed up to the office wait time was small and staff was friendly. Dr. Zannikos is courteous, informative, and very professional. I was in severe pain and Dr. Zannikos was able to do my microdiscectomy within 3 days. I am so thankful!

I had my L4-5 fusion done November 2023 by Dr. Zannikos. I was so nervous getting the surgery but thankfully Dr. Zannikos and his staff was very helpful in calming my nerves down. He saw me in the hospital daily after surgery. I feel very fortunate to find such a wonderful doctor close to my home in Uxbridge. It has been 3 months since surgery and I would say I’m about 80% percent recovered, and I am already doing many more activities that I was able to do prior to surgery. I cant wait to see how much I am able to do when I am fully recovered. I am very grateful for Dr. Zannikos!

I have suffered for more than one year from severe pain and numbness shooting down the back of my leg and foot. I had several steroid injections and many weeks of physical therapy with no relief at all. I was even started on pain nerve medication which just made me sleepy and gain weight but also did not help the pain. I saw one surgeon prior to Dr. Zannikos who told me that he could not help me. When I saw Dr. Zannikos he stated that he could help, and even better via an outpatient minimally invasive procedure. I had an outpatient decompression to remove a bone spur that was pressing on my nerve at the NESS outpatient center and was home 1-2 hours after my surgery. I was already feeling better that same afternoon and I can say that at 8 weeks after surgery he has changed my life. I now can be free from pain and I would recommend him to any person who is suffering from back pain and leg pain.

Dr Zannikos always addresses my concerns and answers all my questions at every visit. He is very kind, patient and considerate. Even more important is how good I feel after my laminectomy. Surgery went well and I no longer have the horrible pain in my calves and feet when I walk and sleep. I have no more night time pain and I can sleep through the night without pain. this is the best I have slept in years! I highly recommend.

My evaluation with Dr. Zannikos was great. He explained in some detail the MRI and all the tests he used to determine that surgery was the best option for addressing the weakness in my arm. He answered all my questions and did not rush me. The surgery went great and I was able to go home the same day. Recovery after my cervical disc replacement also went very well. I would recommend him without reservation.

My experience with Dr. Zannikos and his staff far exceeded my expectations. He performed surgery to remove a herniated disc in my lumbar spine and I have had an extremely smooth recovery. I am very happy with my results and at 5 weeks post surgery, you can barely even see my scar. I have a great deal of confidence in Dr. Zannikos and would not hesitate to recommend him to my family or friends.

Dr. Zannikos was the first doctor I found after my diagnosis of Cervical spinal stenosis that understood how scared I was about the whole thing. He always took time to listen and answer questions before surgery and he was up front and realistic about what to expect from surgery. He offered good advice and positive realistic reassurance. He did not push any treatment of me and gave me options. I am grateful to have found him.

From pre-OP to post-OP I had the best experience with Dr. Zannikos and the entire office. I felt and believe I was under the care of a very caring staff and in the hands of the best surgeon for what I needed. I couldn't have asked for better. Dr. Zannikos is very easy to talk to. His Pa Sarah also has a great bedside manner, is great at listening and very caring and sooo patient. I highly recommend Dr. Zannikos and his staff for your needs.

I first saw Dr Zannikos in June 2021 for neck pain. At that time he did not recommend surgery and instead we decided to try pain management and injections. I did see him again in late 2022 because at that point the pain management had ceased to help me. After an updated MRI and review, he recommended surgery to fuse 3 vertebrae in my neck. My experience with Dr Zannikos pre-op, surgery and all post-op visits have been outstanding. He is never in a hurry and will explain her diagnosis, surgical procedures and follow-up visits in detail and in a manner anyone will understand. I feel extremely fortunate to have found him for my neck surgery. I am almost a year from the surgery and feel the best I have felt in years. BTW, he also has a good sense of humor!
