Straight up!
Dr Balamane is a no nonsense kind of doctor, which I prefer. He gives you answers in medical terms and if you do not understand, no worries, he will explain it all to you in detail then patiently wait for your questions. He is energetic and so maybe some would interpret as trying to rush you out, but all nonsense…he simply is efficient, doesn’t waste time, which makes for short waiting times to see him. Speak up, ask questions, he’ll accommodate you. He’s very knowledgeable. Another aspect of his practice that I appreciate is that he’s conservative when deciding whether medications are necessary. He doesn’t prescribe unnecessary medications or lab tests, as I’ve experienced with other docs. Lastly, he’s friendly yet professional. He plays off your personality. My 80 yr old mom, who had the onset of dementia, saw Dr Balamane. He adjusted his demeanor slightly, slowed down and addressed me with her test results but did it in a way that did not insult her. He’s now my primary doc!

rushed me out
I don't know about others, but I expect to be able to ask my provider multiple questions at any appt. My 1st appt. I felt rushed and like an inconvenience with Dr. Tarek Balamane. He may be knowledgeable, but his willingness to spend time with me and know me was null. I know I needed further investigation and when I asked for it, he seemed aggravated. Getting a referral outside ochsner was almost impossible and when I wanted an xray he said 'come in again'. I did go elsewhere and get complete care.
