Bad bedside manner
At my appointment with him in December, he was rude and very arrogant. He did not want to answer my questions and seemed like he was in a hurry to leave. I get that my appointment was on a friday but still. ALl he talked about was weight loss and bariatric surgery. I have seen Dr Shannon in Cooperstown since then and he is awesome and went over all of my imaging with me and gave me suggestions and recommendations. I do not recommend Dr Radwan at all!1 If you need a neurosurgeon in Cooperstown Dr Larry Shannon is who to go to!!

About a month ago, Dr Radwan performed a decompression and fusion on my lower spine. Within a day or so, I was using a walker with no shooting pains down the backs of my legs - success.Prior to the procedure, he was very careful to explain what was going to happen and the likely outcome. His low-key, soft-spoken manner was comforting and confidence inspiring. (This was the very opposite of my other experience with surgeons that who were arrogant and condescending.)

ACDF Surgery
At my initial visit, Dr. Radwan explained starting with least invasive solutions, and surgery if chosen would need insurance approval. Insurance denied the surgery in May. After little to no relief from medication, physical therapy, and steroid injections, I'd started to lose hope. I'd gone from a chef and food and beverage coordinator for a resort, to not able to lift my arms to dress or undress myself without tears of pain. I got a call in November from Carol, his receptionist, who informed me they resubmitted surgery to insurance, and it had been approved! On December 31, 2024 I underwent ACDF surgery on 4 levels, from C3-C7. I'm still healing as it hasn't been quite 3 weeks, but it is already a NIGHT AND DAY difference. Gone is the daily severe pain I lived with. Also gone are the long list of nerve issues that had progressed and worsened over time. I'm incredibly grateful for Dr. Radwan, and the entire care team at Bassett. And I'm grateful to have my life back.

Excellent neurosurgeon - great patient outcomes!
I've worked with Dr Radwan for two years as his RN Clinical Coordinator. His vast knowledge of spine and brain anatomy and physiology amazes me. I've learned so much from him and his interactions with our patients. I recently had a patient tell me 'Dr Radwan is in my prayers every evening - I never thought I would be pain free again but I am'. He is a meticulous and safe surgeon with excellent patient outcomes - His one poor review on here was from a patient he deemed unsafe for surgery. I can honestly say I am proud to be associated with him and his neurosurgery practice!

I wish he could do my next surgery
I'm in my 40s, but healthy and active. I had thought I had thrown out my back but it turned out to be a much more serious issue. A combination of my genetics and bad luck resulted in me being unable to walk or stand without significant pain that brought me to the ED. After an MRI, Dr. Radwan explained to me and my wife what was going on with my spine and what he recommended. He was not pushy, but expressed a sincere and surprisingly comforting urgency. He radiated confidence, but not arrogance that he could make me feel better. And he followed through. A week after my ED visit, I was on his operating table. I had a minimally invasive surgery and walked out comfortably within hours. I didn't even need any pain meds!Unfortunately, a year and a half later, I am experiencing issues again. I do not blame Dr. Radwan, and on the contrary, I wish he was still here to consult and possibly do surgery again. I have even thought about traveling to wherever he is. Highly recommend.

Neurosugeon
Dr. Radwan was very personable and professional during all my appointments. The most significant thing, however, is he literally gave me my life back. I had complex and painful back issues. I have none now since my surgery. I've been able to go for a daily walk and participate in a senior exercise class. Among other things he straightened my spine.

Superb!
Dr. Radwan's expertise, excellent communication skills and consistently positive and visionary approach to my husband's surgery was nothing less than heroic. He moved heaven and earth to accommodate this unusual and difficult case by moving the scheduled date up a month, coordinating with another surgeon, and successfully completing the surgery. We will be eternally grateful to him!

Dr. Radwin performed major back surgery on me. While I was in the hospital recovering for a week, he came in almost every day to check on me. My follow-up appointments with him were excellent and I really felt he was concerned about my progress. He showed me before and after x-rays and explained what the surgery fixed. He also explained the typical time for full recovery and recommended a few exercises to help me.

My pain doctor referred me to him, we spent maybe 15 minutes on Telehealth where he called me overweight and obese numerous times. When I tried to talk to him about my concerns with my lower back he would jump back to the weight! He was very unprofessional and rude! I wasn't going into this appointment looking to have back surgery, I was hoping he could educate me on my back conditions and he failed to do that! I definitely do not recommend him, especially if you aren't an ideal BMI..

Excellent explanation of my condition . . .
I was having severe back pain which I thought was sciatica. It was not sciatica as Dr Radwan explained at my visit. He had ordered an MRI and at my appointment he carefully explained what was going on in my spine in a way made it very clear to me. He used a computer display of the MRI to show me exactly what was occurring with my spine. I left his office feeling very reassured and grateful to have such a competent doctor. He is excellent at explaining medical conditions in a way that is easy for a patient to understand.

Pre surgery Dr. Radwan very clearly explained exactly what was needed, why it was needed and the steps to accomplish the result. Getting this degree of understanding greatly relieved the level of stress that we had. Post surgery Dr. Radwan again very clearly explained the process, the result and what to expect going forward. The clear, straightforward explanations provided by Dr. Radwan inspired confidence and gave us great positive momentum in healing and recovery. I rate Dr. Radwan as the very best.
