Successful surgery with unnecessary worry
Dr. Rager was consulted for my family member after he had fallen at home, resulting in a large hematoma on his right hip. We did not have a personal experience with him as a surgeon but a close friend had, and this left me hesitant to have him operate on my family member. Despite that, Dr. Rager was kind and easy to talk to. Initially, he didn’t feel the injury would require surgery but subsequently it did and the procedure was successful. However, when we were told to go to the consultation room to receive an update, Dr. Rager did not show up and we were left waiting for over an hour. My family member had already been taken back to his hospital room and we didn’t receive an update. This left us worried and concerned that something had gone wrong. He did apologize but it caused unnecessary worry for me and my family at a difficult time in our lives. One thing I did appreciate was his willingness to allow me to participate in my family member’s care as I am also a healthcare provider.

Excellent docotr
I experience issues with eating. Was referred to a GI doctor and he did colonoscopy and was referred to Dr Rager for surgery. Dr Rager read my CT scan and could tell I had several issues that was missed from previous doctors. He was able to repair the hernia and also took out my gallbladder. He sent tissue from the gallbladder in and it revealed I also have non-Hopkins lymphoma. This would never have been discovered without his thoroughness. The repair of the hernia has given me back a quality of life that I have missed for years. I can not express how grateful I am with his care.

Awesome Knowledgeable and Caring Surgeon
Due to the removal of one of my kidneys a year ago at another hospital and surgeon because of a cancer diagnoses, I ended up with a fairly large incisional hernia following that surgery. I found Dr. Rager about a year later which was a true blessing. Not only did he repair that hernia, but he discovered I had a few other ones which he repaired in the same scheduled surgery in January. He used robotic surgery and the TAR method. Using robotic surgery reduced my recovery time and pain levels. He is a very knowledgeable and caring doctor and human being in my opinion. I highly recommend Dr. Rager.

After being diagnosed with Acute Cholecystitis in November 2020 I was referred to Dr. Rager, and in January 2021 he performed my Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy surgery. He is a very skilled surgeon, and a very patient-centered doctor. In my office visits leading up to and then following the procedure Dr. Rager took his time to fully explain all the aspects of my surgery and recovery, and to always answer any questions I posed. Facing surgery, his manner and professionalism gave me great confidence and peace of mind. I highly recommend Dr. Rager to anyone who may be seeking a very caring and highly skilled surgeon.

I struggled with pain after meals for over 25 years and saw numerous doc's. I had been diagnosed with IBS and thought this was one of those thing in life I would just have to deal with. Dr. Rager explained what an over active Gaul Bladder is and removed mine. I have been pain free for 3 years! Thank you Dr. Rager!

Dr Rager is my mother’s surgeon who diagnosed her colon cancer. His conversation with me regarding the options were factual & informative. Mom is 86 with Alzheimer’s but overall good health. Decision for removal of the affected area of the colon was made & Dr Rager conferred with Dr Harris to do colonoscopy. She was absolutely amazing also. Mom’s surgery went incredibly well. Dr Rager as mentioned in so many reviews acted as though she was his only patient. Our family can’t say enough about his skill & amazing ability to care for his patient. Pocatello is so blessed to have this incredible Doctor!

From the moment we met Dr. Rager, we knew he was very special! Not only did he go above and beyond what we would expect of a surgeon, but, he made me feel like I was his only patient! The extra time he gave to me was incredible! He treated me like I was his mother and it didn't stop at the hospital. He checked on me several times when I was home. My memory of my surgeries may eventually dim over the years, but my memories of Dr. Rager will stay with me forever! Dr. Rager is an amazing doctor!

Dr Rager is an excellent surgeon. He took the time to find out if our baby needed her umbilical hernia repaired now or waiting until she was older. He made is phone calls and got back with us very quickly. Dr Rager made this process very easy for all of us. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Dr.Rager is a very good listener, competent and very caring. Not only did he have excellent insight into my husband's ailment, he recognized his need to see an urologist. Dr. Raver personally went to the urology dept. to find someone who was available and accompanied us to the appointment he set up. We'll not forget his care. The upshot of this was my husband was cleared for an imminent family trip to Mexico.

Dr. Rager removed my gall bladder June 1, 2018. He was very attentive, concerned, thorough and took person interest in me. He kept me and my wife informed with tests that were given to determine if surgery was necessary. I appreciated his conservative manner, he did not just rush into surgery. He also consulted with my family physician through the whole process. We were 100% satisfied with his professional and personal care. I would recommend him for your surgery.
