Dr. Thao Nguyen, MD

She was nice on our first visit, but her office is horrible! I had to reschedule an appointment for a procedure with more than 24 hours notice. Nothing was said to me that this would be a problem. I had it written down on my schedule as 10:45 a.m., but I got a message from the office the day prior saying that it was a 2:00 p.m.. I assumed that I had written down the time wrong, so I arrived at 2:00 p.m., and was told that it was at 10:45 a.m. and that I had missed it. Then her office refused to reschedule any appointments and canceled all my other appointments saying I'd missed two appointments. The front end staff was very apologetic, saying that the doctor indicated that she refused to reschedule me because of missing two appointments, yet nothing was said at the first reschedule and it was not my fault at the second. Poor communication and now I'm going to have to spend more money to start with another urogynecologist. I should have heeded the reviews from other people.

After a long wait, the office assistant came out and told me that the doctor thinks I need see an 'academic specialist' without even talking to me or knowing why I came in. It's a good thing I asked to speak with her, because Dr. Nguyen came out and simply said she doesn't feel like having an appointment with me and that I should make an appointment with a different urogynecologist (not an academic specialist). I was shocked that she denied me after scheduling an appointment, filling out all of the paperwork, driving 45 minutes to get there, and most importantly how she told her office assistant to lie to me by giving me false medical advice. If I didn't ask to speak with her, I would have left with the advice that I should visit a hospital.

Dr. Nguyen took her time, gentle, understanding and very knowledgeable. Staffs were very friendly. She took time to explained everything to me. She gave me option of pessary versus surgery. I chose surgery and it works out great. Almost no pain with robotic surgery.

I went to the office for a visit before a surgery and was told I had to pay my deductible upfront. When I spoke with my son who works in medical billing, he told me that they needed to do the procedure and bill my two insurances first before asking for any of my money. Even Cigna called me and said that should not have been done. When he called to dispute the next day he was polite but firm over the phone arguing the charge. A few hours later the doctor herself called me a few minutes before I was to leave for the procedure and told me my son was rude, cursing, and confrontational and as a result she could not be my doctor. I begged her to do the surgery, because of how much pain I am in and the possibility of cancer that was to be tested and she still refused. She abandoned a patient all over a billing dispute saying my son created a toxic environment because he disputed a charge I shouldn’t have been given in the first place.

First off, the office is very unorganized. After waiting over minutes in my exam room, undressed , Dr Nguyen came in, only to rush through my exam, talking very fast, and suggested doing 2 very invasive surgeries! My visit was to discuss an on going UTI and how to treat it. I was dumb founded. She also wanted to do two procedures prior to these two surgeries. I left there stunned and shocked . The next week I saw another Urologist for a second opinion. She disagreed with my treatment strategy that Dr Nguyen prescribed. She also explained that my particular UTI cannot be treated by oral antibiotics especially the one Dr Nguyen approved me using. She revered me to an infectious disease Dr who too confirmed that the antibiotic Dr Nguyen approved for me was not for my particular UTI bacteria. I am now under the care of the Infectious disease Dr. The surgeries Dr Nguyen wanted to do aren’t even open to discussion!

I found Dr. Nguyen to be a warm and professional person. She discussed with me all of the option. I tried pessary first, but it really isn't for me. She explained the procedure to me prior to surgery. I have had absolutely no problems since the procedure. Her staffs were so friendly. I just love them to bits.

Its very sad and upsetting experience, no compassion, very bad attitude, no bed manners, no explanation of what she is doing, especially geriatrics patients, no communication only screaming and yelling Dr. Nguyen and her nurse needs to be reported to Maryland board of physicians, they should not be in healthcare. I will give her zero star she does not deserve 1 star.

Pushed a little too eagerly for surgery and did not seem to support the equally viable option of a pessary which other doctors mentioned to me

Dr N. performed a surgery to repair both bladder and rectum prolapses, which were causing incontinenence problems, as well as voiding issues. At the 6 wk follow up appt. I told the doctor that the original problems still existed, but she said that there would still be a little swelling, and that in time it would get better; and that was it. It’s been well over a year since I’ve had the surgery and it hasn’t improved so I’d say the surgery was not a success. I have to take responsibility for the fact that I didn’t make her explain as much as I should have prior to the surgery as I usually do. But at that time, I was trusting the referral of a friend, and mentally, I just wanted it DONE. I have not returned to her, and I am now looking for another provider.

Not satisfied at all. Hardly understood her. Everything was in a rush. Didn't take the time to sit down and explain the surgeries needed, too busy with another patient. Very sad experience.

Not a good boss, workload was too much. Always overworked but never acknowledged for anything. Environment between the staff and doctor seemed toxic. Overall I learned a lot but it was time to leave. No support with the front desk at all, barely had a lunch break. No benefits are even offered

She is money hungry. All she cares about is money.

Dr. Nguyen was recommended to me by my primary care for potential prolapse. She was nice and very courteous. I went through several in office tests and believe her diagnosis was correct. However, I elected not to have any surgery at this time. I felt that it's quite risky for my age and after a hysterectomy in 2016 I don't want to rush to do this repair. I was also not confident because on two visits Dr. Nguyen thought I was another patient and didn't have the correct chart.

Nasty attitude, arrogant, cold and she doesn't know what she is doing. A regular gynecologist did a much better job after she completely failed. She abandoned me as a patient. She berated me for refusing to undergo tests! Doctor! All the tests were in the chart completed and ready for you to view!

After having a prolapse uterus for a long time I was referred to Dr. Thao Nguyen she did her examination thoroughly and we made the decision to have surgery. Her staff Ohhh so pleasant and helpful especially Becky will recommend her any day. 5 stars.

I had a very bad experience with this doctor. She performed two tests on me that endes d up costing over $1000.
