I trusted him: biggest mistake I have made
I had high hopes when I chose Dr. Theodore Schwartz as my neurosurgeon, trusting his reputation and skill. When facing something as terrifying as a brain tumor, you hope for more than just technical expertise—you need kindness, compassion, and empathy. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing. I was scared and vulnerable, but instead of feeling supported, I felt disregarded. Dr. Schwartz seemed indifferent to me as a person, and that lack of compassion left a lasting impact. The nurse practitioners were often unkind, and the residents showed no empathy. I expected a medical team that would treat me with understanding, but that was far from my experience.I'm still dealing with several complications that stem directly from my surgery, but what’s been even more difficult is the way the entire team has shown such indifference to my struggles. Despite the ongoing issues I’m facing, it feels like no one truly cares or understands the lasting impact this has had on my life.

Not so nervous now
Telehealth
I appreciate how professional Dr. Schwartz is. The idea of having brain surgery is extremely daunting, but it's comforting when your surgeon doesn't seem phased by any of it. Dr. Schwartz has been in his field for so many years. So I appreciate his expertise. I don't think the concept of someone digging under my scalp will ever completely fade. But I can breathe a little easier when the doctor doing it is kind, referred and patient-devoted.

A Gifted Surgeon
On April 11,2024, my wife had a major brain surgery removing six meningiomas performed by Dr.Schwartz. It was a critical decision in choosing the right surgeon. We encountered many consultations with other neurosurgeons. We were impressed with the way Dr.Schwartz thoroughly arranged Mri's and images including the brain and spine. My wife and I are huge prayer warriors and live by our faith. We felt led by the Holy Spirit that Dr.Schwartz was the surgeon to perform the surgery. Immediately after the surgery was completed, Dr.Schwartz came out of the operating room and gave our son and I a complete summary of the successful surgery. He made the incision under the hairline doing a phenomenal job. You couldn't tell that my wife had surgery performed. She healed very well. We feel extremely blessed that God led us to the right surgeon with gifted hands to perform my wife's surgery. We write this review with heartfelt gratitude for a surgeon that gives his all to his patients.

Excellent neurosurgeon
Dr Theodore Schwartz removed a tumor in my right eye. He was very patient with me in explaining the procedure as I was understandably scared. His patience and personality calmed me down and allowed me to trust his judgement. I am so very grateful for finding him and having him as my surgeon. I very highly recommend Dr. Schwartz to anyone that needs his expertise.

Pituitary adenoma consultation and surgery
The purpose of my review is to let you know there is great help available. I was very concerned about having vision issues due to a brain tumor (pituitary adenoma) that was compressing my optic nerve. Brain surgery is a daunting prospect. We researched to find a neurosurgeon that we could trust for this most delicate surgery. So fortunately, we found Dr. Theodore Schwartz with NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell. He is an expert in this field of care. From the first consultation, I was relieved and confident that I found the right neurosurgeon. We learned he has done over 2,000 such surgeries. He completed a very successful surgery in 2024, and he and his team, incl. Dr. Tabee and Dr. Dobri, have managed my recovery wonderfully. Thankfully, we were able to consult with Dr. Schwartz within 10 days of diagnosis due to efforts of Rochelle, Christian and Elizabeth. You can't compare the amazing care of Dr. Schwartz & NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell team with others. Thank you for being the best!

Indifferent, uncaring, extremely self centered.
Self centered and selfish Dr. Schwartz just cares about making a name for himself. He is indifferent to outcomes and the lives of his patients. I made the mistake of seeking the care of this man and his hospital and it is decision I will regret for the rest of my life. Anyone who has asked me for a neurosurgery referral, I remind them that in new York there are many choices and you can do better than WCM. I reccomend NYU Langone.

I am very grateful to Dr. Theodore Schwartz . He diagnosed my large, asymptomatic meningioma, and quickly scheduled surgery, which went brilliantly well, with a barely visible scar on my head. Besides the technical skill, Dr. Schwartz supervised a kind and hugely responsive team who provided answers to all my questions quickly and clearly and set me up with excellent home care after surgery. I feel very lucky to have been treated by Dr. Schwartz at Weill Cornell. My highest recommendation!

The Best in the USA No Doubt
Dr Schwartz a year ago, removed a meningioma from my right frontal lobe. After surgery in the ICU he came in and told me they got it all. Another on the surgical team told me they got it all. He is meticulous and happens to be one of not the best surgeon of this type in this country

Highly recommend Dr Schwartz.
Dr. Theodore Schwartz removed a meningioma from my brain last year. I feel very grateful and lucky to have been referred to him by friends. The surgery was a success, minimum hospital stay and great recovery.I sent him my scans on a Friday, saw him on Monday and scheduled surgery for 10 days later. He is caring, took his time explaining things directly and clearly. He gave me confidence immediately. All his office staff is phenomenal! They answered all my questions thru My Chart in a speedily and clear manner. Office visits are fast with very little wait time. The staff at the hospital is absolutely incredible, the doctors and nurses that saw to me where professional, caring and attentive. I really felt in best hands and well taken care of.I Highly recommend Dr Schwartz.

Excellent surgeon. Kind and knowledgeable staff available to answer questions and concerns. Dr Schwartz removed two large meningiomas. I’m 76 years old and will be returning to work! I’m forever grateful to Dr Schwartz and to my long time internist Dr Ward Cunningham Rundles for this excellent referral.

Totally wonderful
Dr Schwartz is not only a phenomenal doctor but also a wonderful human that truly cares about his patients. We interviewed numerous neurosurgeons in NYC and can say with total confidence that going with Dr Schwartz at WCNYP was absolutely the right decision. I was diagnosed with a golf ball size meningioma brain tumor that needed to be removed ASAP and they fit me in with 10 days. The nursing team at NYP was amazing, my family and I were overjoyed with the level of care we received every step of the way. If you are making the very important decision on which doctor and hospital for brain surgery I can’t say enough wonderful words about Dr Schwartz and his team. I hope nothing like this ever happens again but if we had to do it over again or if I had to give a family member or friend advice I would say without hesitation choose Dr Schwartz. I have a whole new start on life.
