I went to this doctor for pain in the ball of my foot. He convinced me that foot surgery was needed to fix it. I spent four months hobbling around in great pain and eight months later, I still have pain in the ball of my foot. Stay clear of Emory at Decatur; all other Emory facilities are outstanding but Decatur is a hot mess.

Old school in the worst way
This man raised his voice to me because I dared to ask a question and said I had not followed directions when I absolutely had. I went and got a second opinion and clearly this doc hasn't read new research in a decade. Pushing expensive and poorly made orthotics weakens the foot. Not a nice person or a good doctor. I had to have surgery and am doing great. He was going to leave me in pain.

Did not do a history or ask any questions!
Probably one of the worst podiatry visits I've ever had. I'm pretty athletic for my age, so perhaps the look look of the waiting room should have clued me in as to Dr. Cain's specialty - geriatric podiatry?? At any rate, I went in with an issue with a sore joint in one of my toes. My feet were x-rayed. When the doctor came in, he examined my feet and then proceeded to say I basically had profoundly deformed feet, including hammer toes. He also repeated, something like FOUR TIMES, 'That's the way god made you.' What?? Never did he ask what I might have been doing when I noticed the pain. Never asked any history at all - e.g., 'Do you wear high heels?' (answer = never!) OR 'Hey, you seem pretty athletic, was there a situation when you were exercising and you noticed the pain?' No, he just kept repeating the 'god' comment and said I'd need surgery really soon or my toes were going to be all twisted and deformed. Worst ever! I don't recommend him for any athletic or overuse injuries.

This was my first visit to Dr. Cain’s office and it was beyond disappointing. I came in seeking treatment for toenail fungus in two toenails. In the first few minutes of meeting Dr. Cain he basically told me that toenail fungus has no cure and that if you have it you are bound to have the problem indefinitely. He said I had a type of topical yeast fungus on most of my toenails (not the ones I came in about) and that those could be treated by using a dremel tool but he didn’t have one in his office any longer because Emory wouldn’t allow it because it couldn’t be sterilized properly. He then took out clippers and began cutting my nails so far down that it was painful and I had to stop him. He was obviously frustrated by this and said I wasn’t letting him work. He had just told me that the toenails he was butchering just needed a tool he didn’t have so I wasn’t sure why he was even cutting them. Lamisil, spraying antiperspirant on the feet, along with using a dremel tool was his rec

I had made an appointment through Emory and when I arrived at Dr. Cain's office a very unfriendly receptionist said they had no record of it and no more appointment times available. It was Friday morning and she said being Friday they were closing early. Very cold and no desire to help. Don't think I'll come back.

I went to see Dr. Thomas Cain after a pain in my left foot became increasingly severe. Dr. Cain and his staff were extremely friendly and competent. More importantly, Dr. Cain correctly diagnosed the cause of my pain and he did surgery on my foot. As soon as the surgery healed, my pain was gone and several months later, I walk with no pain.

Told me I needed part of a toenail removed, canceled one appointment on me, the next one he didn’t have time due to a meeting he needed to get to, the corona-19 hit they closed. Just tried to reschedule and the lady told me at least three week wait with painful swollen toe. I asked if their was any other option. She said yeah, find new doctor.

I was referred to Dr. Cain from a former patient who had suffered a botched surgery from a prior physician. Dr. Cain corrected the problem and also performed same surgery on opposite foot. I too have had two surgeries with Dr. Cain with excellent results. Does a great job of providing realistic surgical and post-surgical expectations for pain, recovery, and results. Strongly recommend...pretty conversant for a Georgia Tech grad!

I saw Dr. Cain 18 months ago to relieve pain caused by tailor's bunions. Dr. Cain did an outstanding job and since having surgery, I have no more pain. The scar has healed nicely and you can barely see it at this point. I highly recommend Dr. Cain and his staff.

Office staff was nice. No one in the waiting room, still waited 15minits. I had a severely ingrown toenail that was sensitive even to a bed sheet laying on it. This "doctor" took some clippers and just started digging it out. I don't recall ever being so much pain. He commented how red my face was and I said "that hurt like HELL!" A simple numbing would have been in order, but that was of no consideration to him. I quickly found another podiatrist.

Dr. Cain performed surgery to correct a bunion, 2 hammertoes and a neuroma nerve. I still have a small bunion, hammertoes stick up and will not touch the floor, and it feels like the nerve has grown back. I now have excruciating pain in my toes and my foot is still swollen almost 10 months post op. My last appointment, he really didn't listen to my complaints nor have any suggestions to help me. My foot is now in worse condition than before the surgery. I have less mobility and more pain.
