Great surgeon
great surgeon, excellent professional, did two of my surgeries, both were successful. Highly recommend him, he will not tell you bunch of BS, but will cut to the point.

Dr. Carter great knee surgeon
If you’re looking for an excellent orthopedic surgeon with years of experience and great results, please select Dr. Thomas Carter with Banner Health in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Carter has put together a wonderful team. Top athletes and ordinary people come here for sports medicine and related care. It’s important that all patients get treated the same. My condition was a torn ACL from playing high school football. This was recently confirmed with an MRI. After 40 years of having a painful knee, I realized it was getting worse. I did some research and received some opinions from a few surgeons. I decided to go with Dr. Carter because of his many years of experience and his reputation as a knee surgeon. In summary, Dr. Carter has years of experience and a great team to assist him, which is very important if you think about it. His patients receive great results, and he stays on the cutting edge of this highly technical field. He was a pleasure to work with. JK

Dr Carter is great surgeon but zero office support
Dr Carter is terrific. BUT I can't get anyone from the Banner Office to get back to me. Not about MRI or to get my PT scheduled. Been 2 weeks since MRI completed. Been 4 days since Dr. Carter approved PT. SO disappointed in how bad Banner patient care follow up has become in last 2 years! Seems you're just a number with Banner Physician Groups now. We had the same - even worse - issue with Cardiac Care Banner Group (at Power Road) post-hospital. Went to smaller physician group when Banner blew us off for heart monitor (said they were out and would try to find one-then we never heard back) and new group found husband needed immediate cardiac surgery! Banner continues to let us down!

Worst Orthopedic Doctor
Worst Orthopedic care in Arizona! I wasted 3 months of my life dealing with the Banner Surgeon Dr. Thomas Carter. Save yourself the aggravation!!! Unless you're a professional athlete, forget about quality care! The Banner Office medical assistant called me a week prior to surgery and failed to schedule the correct rapid Covid test. As a result of their mistakes my surgery was canceled!!! I was blamed for THEIR mistake. Don't fall into this trap! Dr. Thomas Carter called me 20 minutes after the surgery check in furious that my covid test results had not been received. After letting Dr. Thomas Carter know his own office assistant made the mistake he proceeded to call me a liar and forbid any future surgeries. The facilities manager named Stuart did absolutely nothing to help. I would avoid this place even if my life depended on it!

I have seen Dr. Carter for 15+ years for shoulder and knee issues and HIGHLY recommend him! He has saved me 2x from unnecessary shoulder surgery. I appreciate that he is NOT knife happy and has helped me thru physical therapy. There is not another orthopedic doctor in the valley that compares! Thank you Dr. Carter. You are the BEST!

He is competent but has zero bed side manner. I did not feel he cared about me and he literally told me he didn't need to see me any more after my follow up appointment and left the room with no time for questions or comments. I did not go back even though I needed to and still do today. That was 1.5 years ago.

Dr. Carter did my ACL and Medial Meniscus tear Thanksgiving 2017. My first major surgery in my life. Initially I tore something in my knee in summer 2015 and was mis-diagnosed by the first specialists I saw. They had no idea what they were doing. Since I wasn’t on crutches or looked seriously injured I never saw a dr. Just a PA. Knee was ok for the most part up until I saw Carter due to some pain and a little swelling in knee again. My family dr referred me to him and I couldn’t be more thankful! I was shakin like a leaf in the prep area before my surgery. Nervous anxious and excited to get the process going. It’s almoat been two years and I don’t need to wear a brace. It really feels great. I’m back to running, working in the field construction and playing baseball and softball again! Couldn’t thank him and his staff enough, once he came in to greet me. He teased me about how nervous I was. He walked with me to the OR table and before I knew I was done and getting in the car. Smooth!

I went there to see if I could avoid a knee replacement. Dr. Carter was doing research on a artificial meniscus. And I wanted to see if I may be a candidate. I was flustered by previous surgery’s on my knee and feeling desperate. He was not what I expected not friendly or showed any compassion. Then he told me I had no ACL or PCL which increased my frustration. Then he said he doesn’t do surgery any more. If I had known that I wouldn’t have gone to him. I ended up going to my PC and got an order to check my ACL and PCL both were intact. You all got to do what you got to do for yourself but I wholeheartedly do not recommend this Doctor very unprofessional.

I've had my entire world turned upside down by an unnecessary surgery performed by Dr. Thomas R. Carter. This surgery has left me maimed and unable to perform basic daily tasks. My livelihood and marriage have suffered because of this. Dr. Carter performed two separate surgeries. The first surgery was to clean up scar tissue on my left bicep. Years later I went in for the same procedure to be performed on my right bicep. I came out of surgery with a completely unwanted and unnecessary distal cla

Dr. Carter has taken care of my son, my daughter, and myself for many years. His exemplary expertise in orthopedics enabled my son, after ACL reconstruction to continue his passion for hockey. His guidance for my daughter has been spot on as she recovered from a serious accident many years ago. I would entrust no other orthopedic surgeon with my much needed recent shoulder surgery. I feel Dr. Carter is 5+stars as a surgeon. It is very apparent his concern for his patients is truly a priority.

Dr. Carter is a caring doctor. He is extremely informative. He not only explained exactly what the surgical procedure entailed, but he engaged my 15 year old daughter in the conversation. He wanted her to know everything he was doing and why. His bedside manner is one of humor, education and kindness. His staff compliments everything Dr. Carter is to his patients.

I would not go to any other orthopedic surgeon. He already did my right rotator cuff, now I’m waiting to do my left one. I feel it will be 100% successful just like my other shoulder was :)
