Dr. Thomas Koerner, MD

I highly recommend this pediatrician. I am 38 years old. Dr Koerner became my pediatrician when I was about the age of 10 up until the age of 21. He had also been pediatrician to all 3 of my children, until he moved to MD to be closer to his son and new grandchild. I cried like a baby when he told me that he was leaving the children's clinic in Newport News Virginia. The transition was very difficult because I didn't think I'd be able to trust another pediatrician as much as I trusted him. I didn't think I'd find someone with as much knowledge, care, and compassion for my family as he had. From experience, Dr. Koerner has always been thorough and accurate in all of his diagnosis. He was the first pediatrician that noticed and diagnosed my scoliosis. Good doctors are not too hard to find, but a doctor who is more like family, talks to you, listen to you, is intimately in tune with you and your health concerns, and have nothing except your best interest in mind, is very rare!

I am now 23 but I went to Dr.Koerner for most of my adolescent and teen years. Once he left the Hampton roads area, I was devastated. I truly which he was a primary care doc. Assuming he's still practicing, My kids will be seen by him and only him. He listens and provides care he believes is proper. Super helpful.

I would not recommend this doctor to anyone I know. My son saw him during a sick visit (ear infection). During the visit, he was administered a hearing test, which he did not pass. He was 3 years old at the time. I recently learned that Dr. Koerner wrote in my son's medical file that due to this failed hearing test, he was diagnosing him with Expressive Language Disorder and Phonological Disorder. Keep in mind, a hearing test is not how you diagnose these disorders and no developmental assessments were ever conducted with my son. He wrote in his file that he recommended speech therapy. These diagnoses and recommendations were never shared with us as the parents. I also learned that he is no longer at his previous practice for several reasons. This is not a doctor I would trust having my child see again for any reason.

absolutely amazing pediatrician. he listens to all of the parents concerns and treats accordingly. He takes a very conservative approach to treatment. He is always chipper, refers for the necessary testing, etc. This practice is great with saturday hours, after hours calls, and they most of the time will meet you at the office on Sunday/after hours instead of you having to make an ER/Urgent care. Very kind and consider

We love dr Koerner! Any time we need help with anything, he's always on top of it. He's great with our kids!
